I've visited Thai Silk twice. Once in the restaurant, and once as a takeaway. I'm sorry to say neither experience wowed me...
The restaurant experience had some good points. The atmosphere is authentic, with a nice setup and very tidy restaurant. The staff are happy to serve, and helpful if you're struggling to choose an order.
I ordered the Panang Curry, which tasted decent, but unfortunately was very pricey for a very small portion. I could probably have easily put away twice the amount I was served. This was a big let down, as when it comes down to it we go to restaurants for the food, not the atmosphere...
The takeout experience was different. The take-away area is separate from the Restaurant. It is tidy, and the counter staff are friendly and happy to serve. The problem again, was with the food...
One thing I can say is that the takeaway portions are both larger and cheaper than the dine-in counterparts.
I ordered the Pad Thai, which came in a good sized container ready to eat... The unfortunate part is that all myself, and my wife who was eating with me could taste, was the overwhelming taste of vinegar. The meal was swimming in so much vinegar that taking a sniff of the meal caused me to sneeze due to the irritation up my nose. I could have had the same experience by cooking some two minute noodles in a bowl of vinegar rather than water.
I cannot say whether this is the usual experience or not as I have only had their Pad Thai once, but needless to say, I won't be trying it again. Unfortunately I couldn't return the meal as I had already traveled home, and the restaurant is a fair distance away.
I have heard good feedback from others I know, so please understand I may be an outlier. But unfortunately for myself, this has been my experience...
Read moreI stopped here for some dinner. I ordered green chicken curry which came with rice, pad Thai and a crispy pork The Thai green was good, I enjoyed it. The crispy pork meal was terrible. The pork was deep fried to the point it was dry and stringy. I have yet to try the pad Thai. I also ordered a green tea and was quite disappointed to see a twinings tea bag instead of the genuine green tea leaves. The service was not very good. The owner said she sent the staff home as it was quiet. I ordered the tea and had to ask for it again as it was left on the bench, so the owner reheated it then served it to us. We also ordered roti and peanut sauce. It was good. Overall I would recommend trying somewhere else to try Thai food. The bill was $108 but the female owner did give a 10% discount. Although initially she wasn’t going to do anything until I said I wasn’t very happy with the crispy pork. If you can’t eat the food you shouldn’t have to pay for it. I must add this would only be the second time I’ve been to that point ever....
Read moreI’ve eaten here before and it’s good however one of the pork dishes we ordered had a long black hair in it. Don’t remember ordering the hair as extra but ok.
Their takeaway needs major work because when you order the food in the restaurant for dine in the amount is a bit more but when you order for a takeout it’s almost half of the pad Thai missing! Also they need to have proper communication because I was there for a pick up but the girl only heard 1 order of pad Thai when we ordered for 2 with the crispy pork in the side. I was charged extra for the same exact dish I purchased 2 minutes later and the girl at the front had no clue why, when she was the one that pushed it through. It was both so frustrating and awkward having to understand why I was charged more. I ended up just taking the food and tried my best to understand what the old man was trying to say even though we couldn’t get on the same page.
Might give it a year to go back here again coz that was really an...
