Best curry in town! Super friendly service, very decent portions (hubby thought it wouldn't be enough, but oh boy he was proved other wise..) and absolutely delicious flavours. The butter chicken is a lovely sweet almost mango flavour that accompanied my spinach curry perfectly. The naan breads are massive, the rice is delicate, the sauce is rich and and velvety, the meat, especially the beef, is tender and everything is cooked to perfection. Southland has a lot of cold days, so instead of wasting money and time at the old fast food places, as a couple, share a curry. It's warm and soulful and supports local. Totally worth it, expand your pallet and invite a world of new flavour with the extensive range of menu, and inviting service. All smiles and full tummies. Cleared out my sinuses too, bonus. Will be going back again, of course, instead of other fast...
Read moreI love Indian cuisine, so I'm reticent to try what I thought was a pokey corner restaurant /takeaway on a main road into Invercargill City, on a corner in the middle of the suburbs. But I was in a motel across the road, and 'The Malabar' had what appeared to me to be a comprehensive menu.

and well the garlic was also hot and delish! What a wonderful find for a girl from out of town. Go...
Read moreAlways great curries served at The Malabar Kitchen. We always buy takeaway with their deal, which unfortunately keeps rising in price, currently in May 2022 it's $35 for 2 curries, 2 naan and a container of rice. They also include a stamp card as a bit of an incentive to buy again. Usually they're reliable with their portions, with acceptable amounts of meat and vegetables in their gravy. However, there have been times where Beef was substituted for Chicken in a Vindaloo, despite the receipt saying it should be Beef Vindaloo. There is a variance in spiciness too, never quite sure how hot "hot" will be. Nevertheless, we'll always buy from here because there isn't another curry restaurant which such value, particularly...
