It was one of the only few places that was open in Taihape on 30th January. The cabinet meals seems appealing as they had a huge range in there plus they cater for keto diets too. I was surprised to see that they offer a dinner menu, so was glad when we were offered that. Ordered escargot, seafood chowder, garlic bread, a medium rare steak and a couple of drinks. it all came out together like we requested. The escargot wasn't very fresh and it barely had the garlic flavour as per advertised. The garlic bread was as expected, the balsamic glaze was a nice touch. Seafood chowder was tasty enough although I wouldn't call it a chowder but rather a bisque because of its watery texture. Then there's the steak with the hazelnut crumb. It was more of a medium than a medium rare. Again, the jus that came with is was too watery for my preference. Vegetables was just average, not even nicely cut.. But it did the job. What really disappointed me was the potatoes that was supposed to be cooked in duck fat. It was not crispy nor flavoursome. I reckon i would've been more forgiving it was reasonably priced. but that steak was $38. Safe to say I would not be...
Read moreI've been coming here for years. It's a great midway refreshment stop between Wgtn & Taupo. Over the years I've noticed in general a decrease in the cleanliness of the tables and floors. The food has always been at the pricey end but that has been balanced by the uniqueness of what has been available for purchase & portion size. This time I was really disappointed - $12.50 for a small flat quiche that was mostly pastry and a dozen mesculan leaves for a 'salad'. The bahji at $3.50 a ball was expensive undercooked stodge that was microwave reheated so it became rubbery. They had run out of the minted yoghurt, despite having quite a stash of bahji still to sell. Coffees were at perfect temps but no fancyness of ferns or hearts on the top. The crockery was of different colours & mismatched styles, and two pieces of the six we had were chipped.... There are other cafés in the area to try out so we won't be back...

we sat down and got our food after 10 minutes and it came out cold the french toast was soggy and over priced the first thing i noticed when the curly fries were put down was a bug in our sauce i immediately brought the sauce back up so ask for a new one and when i did show them the blonde lady said okay didn’t apologise or anything then after giving me the sauce i overheard her talking to her coworker about it giggling the only worker who was actually nice and smiled was an older māori lady whilst bringing us our food i was overall disappointed and would never...
