It was one of the only few places that was open in Taihape on 30th January. The cabinet meals seems appealing as they had a huge range in there plus they cater for keto diets too. I was surprised to see that they offer a dinner menu, so was glad when we were offered that. Ordered escargot, seafood chowder, garlic bread, a medium rare steak and a couple of drinks. it all came out together like we requested. The escargot wasn't very fresh and it barely had the garlic flavour as per advertised. The garlic bread was as expected, the balsamic glaze was a nice touch. Seafood chowder was tasty enough although I wouldn't call it a chowder but rather a bisque because of its watery texture. Then there's the steak with the hazelnut crumb. It was more of a medium than a medium rare. Again, the jus that came with is was too watery for my preference. Vegetables was just average, not even nicely cut.. But it did the job. What really disappointed me was the potatoes that was supposed to be cooked in duck fat. It was not crispy nor flavoursome. I reckon i would've been more forgiving it was reasonably priced. but that steak was $38. Safe to say I would not be coming back.

Overpriced under par smoothies. The menu looked appealing, we were wanting smoothies so ordered a mean green smoothie and an energy smoothie. The smoothies came in takeaway coffee cups as pictured. $9 for a smoothie that size is a rip off in anyone’s books. The green smoothie was ok but if you have a sweet tooth you wont like it as you can mainly taste the super greens added. The energy smoothie was discarded after two sips, the big spoon of peanut butter added (from a fairly budget brand) was too much, or perhaps the peanut butter used had added sugar?? Worth asking just in case. Please invest in appropriate takeaway cups for smoothies or shakes that hold a fair volume for the price and a straw for sipping while on the go.

Came in on a rainy Friday for lunch. Pretty busy for a small cafe. Real nice vibe with a warm, bubbly atmosphere. Extra points for all the old-fashioned phones which I LOVE!! Located knbetweeen bathroom doors. My dad ordered a beef brisket panini, which had a nice soft, sweet flavour. Sis ordered a bacon and egg croissant, which she liked. The soup of the day was 10/10. Winner dish out of the ones ordered. Creamy with a hint of spiciness that lingered nicely. Came with two prefect slices of toasted toast. Staff give off a pleasant vibe. Great place for lunch ❤️.

I've been coming here for years. It's a great midway refreshment stop between Wgtn & Taupo. Over the years I've noticed in general a decrease in the cleanliness of the tables and floors. The food has always been at the pricey end but that has been balanced by the uniqueness of what has been available for purchase & portion size. This time I was really disappointed - $12.50 for a small flat quiche that was mostly pastry and a dozen mesculan leaves for a 'salad'. The bahji at $3.50 a ball was expensive undercooked stodge that was microwave reheated so it became rubbery. They had run out of the minted yoghurt, despite having quite a stash of bahji still to sell. Coffees were at perfect temps but no fancyness of ferns or hearts on the top. The crockery was of different colours & mismatched styles, and two pieces of the six we had were chipped.... There are other cafés in the area to try out so we won't be back...

passing through for brunch and saw this cafe so decided to check it out upon arrival the staff were very rude while the cafe wasn’t busy we were ignored for a good few minutes we didn’t even get a hello or smile a staff member came up to finally serve us spoke no more than 5 words was just overall rude

we sat down and got our food after 10 minutes and it came out cold the french toast was soggy and over priced the first thing i noticed when the curly fries were put down was a bug in our sauce i immediately brought the sauce back up so ask for a new one and when i did show them the blonde lady said okay didn’t apologise or anything then after giving me the sauce i overheard her talking to her coworker about it giggling the only worker who was actually nice and smiled was an older māori lady whilst bringing us our food i was overall disappointed and would never...
