Stopped over to order some dinner, 6:07pm today. Was a nice atmosphere and was packed as its probably the only place to have something decent to eat for a couple of km’s. So we ordered food as takeaway as there where no seating or tables available inside and they where quite busy and didn’t mind waiting for our food. We sat outside I’m guessing it was the smoking area. After about 30mins we noticed that a family was done with their table and we moved inside again and had a seat. Our food arrived and i asked the young waitress if it was fine if we could have our food there instead and we we’re happy to eat it just out of our takeaway containers, she told us yeah sure thats fine, then about 20seconds later the intoxicated male server(whom is still pretty drunk at the moment now and probably not legal as far as I’m concerned )or what ever he was told us “its takeaway so take it away” showing his thumb pointing out the door. I stayed seated waiting for my kids to finish washing their hands. He then was on his way back to me and as I saw my kids coming out the toilets i got up and he then immediately turned and made as if he checked on another table. Im not the type of person to argue with an intoxicated person and think there should be some legal action taken upon this. There are certain ways of doing things and that was definitely not one of them, especially when...
Read moreAbsolutely awful food. I ordered the razor back ribs which tasted as if they had been sitting around all day and had been microwaved. We received them only five minutes after placing our order which didn't seem right, as most food needs at least 15 minutes to be decent. They arrived anaemic grey in colour and smothered in a synthetic BBQ sauce they probably squeezed out of a budget bottle. The meat was chewy and tough and after two bites I couldn't eat it any more. The service was terrible. An American girl wearing a tie died cap backwards refused to let me switch to onion rings instead of fries even though they were listed as cheaper on their menu, and we were never asked if we were enjoying our food - probably because they knew the answer would be no. I lost my appetite and didn't want to order anything else, but they wouldn't even give me a refund, despite the fact that I had only two bites of the rack. We were absolutely shocked. They basically stole $22 from us, and patronisingly pretended that there was nothing wrong with the food. All their food is overpriced for the terrible quality and they also charge an extortionate rate for wifi - $5 for 50mb. Ludicrous. The only reason this business has survived so long is because there is hardly any choice in that tiny town. I would highly advise anyone to drive a bit further to avoid this place at all costs. A...
Read moreThis was my second visit. Honestly, the decor needs more attention. The chairs appear they haven't had a good clean in years. They were scruffy and the rattan chairs were falling apart.
The Steinlager All Black flag/curtains over the windows lacked creativity. They were poor and untidy looking. I'm not a fan of all those tiny dusty bottles sitting on beams near the ceiling. It looks like they've been there since the 90s. I would remove. They're not necessary.
There is a stinch when you sit down. It's not noticeable when you walk in. I think in general you need to scrub, hoover, declutter and update the appearance.
The chicken wings were ok. What let it down was the wings served on a cold caste iron dish. I found it odd.
Could your waitress pay attention to the number of guests she's serving the wings to? I was sharing my wings with my significant other. It was evident that we were going to share. She bought one plate. I thought perhaps she might ask if we needed 2 plates? She did not and she walked away. I had to grab a saucer and more napkins off the coffee counter. Small little details like these, along with the outdated and untidy decor is what I remember from my dining experience there.
