Top organised, but very overpriced. 47 NZD for a one-way trip to the starting point. After a 20 km hike, you have to walk another 1 km back to the car park. According to the driver, a large part of the fee is used for the maintenance of the hiking trail. In fact, at least 10 km of the downhill trail is paved with plastic mats fixed with thousands of steel hooks. The holes in the mats are filled with gravel that does not come from there and therefore had to be brought up the mountain, presumably by helicopter. Quite a few of these plastic mats lie next to the path. Not really an example of respect for nature, more of mass tourism at any price. Even forest paths are paved with these mats. Of course, carting thousands of tourists up there every day brings in more money than offering this hike only to those who have the prerequisites. Felt sorry to support this.

Our group of 7 very eager and tired wanna be badasses arrived to the national park at 6am without making any arrangements in how to get to the Tongariro Crossing. Luckily we saw this bus with a phone number on it and we called it without expecting them to answer. To our surprise they did and in just 30 minutes we were picked up and beginning our first great walk of the year. Tracey on the phone organized our pick up and Thomas our driver got us there while pointing out where to grab some amazing steaks after hike. And we damn sure grab those steaks and it was awesome. Thanks to them we hit off 2019 without a hitch.

The shuttle services are very poor. The ticket booth spent quite long mins to sell a ticket, that made a very long queue. The people went out from the booth told us to buy it online is fater. Then I tried buying online and found extra $14 to pay. I guess they're intentionly making the process longer so people whould buy the ticket online. I was told to take bus with logo "National Park". Then the bus delayed about 1 hour, I was delivered to the moutain by "Summit", another shuttle service. Not bus from "National Park". I went down the moutain at about 4:05pm and waited in the queue. No bus with "National Park" came. Then I made a call to the customer service. They told me don't know why I missed the last bus. That's rediculous. And then I asked about "Summit" shuttle buses. They said they know nothing about "Summit". By the time, the last bus from "Summit" came and picked up their customers, and I went and asked and was accepted to take their bus. We were left in the cold and the customer service just kept asking "are you angry". Can't really talk with. The customer service was not helpful and they just want to make more money but not improving quality...

I do not recommend this company .. I hurt my ankle like the night before I had to do the hike so I tried to reschedule . The person on the phone was not very nice or understanding and gave me a very terrible attitude and basically said tough luck. For a service that is overprice .. they are not very understanding with the customers circumstances. Very unprofessional company . I highly not recommend them. How am I suppose to give them a 48 hour notice when I booked a day before .. I tried to reschedule for a different day and the guy on the phone was the most uncaring and unprofessional person. Very small mind business , they rather get a 1 star and save them self 60$ than do the right thing and be more understand and give a great...
