Went there today after having a coffee on Monday when I noticed they had Cornish Pasties on the menu, asked what was in them and surprise they were real Cornish Pasties, said to my mate I will get one on Wednesday when I pick you up from Hospital, so this afternoon went in ordered 2 Coffee to take away and a cornish pasty, to my utter astonishment he said I only have 2 left and I need them for the morning he would not sell me one, to my surprise he then asked how my day was going I replied it was good until now, he then said oh I will get you one then and I responded no don't bother with an attitude like that where he said it was me with the attitude, I commented to him thought you wanted to sell food. Had he said all sold out it would have been totally different but to tell me he still had 2 and to decline selling one was just unfathomable, as for the coffee it was OK nothing special. I won't go...

A absolute shocking interaction. Stopped for breakfast morning 18/01/24. 4 of us planning to have food, coffee etc. bill Food is in the cabinet so a member of our group picked up a panini, took it to the counter and had just only undone a corner of the clingfilm as to help the staff. Much to my shock the server spoke with utter disgust in her tone and said “pay for that before you eat it”, our response was “we weren’t going to eat it we were only trying to help before it’s heated up” to which she continued to mumble “it’s not an eat before you buy shop”. The look she gave us and tone in her voice was shocking. No way this lady was getting our order now. Would give 0 stars if I could. Shocking introducing to Marlborough. Went to sneaky beach cafe across the road and was greeted with service with a smile and...

Ray’s Place lived up to its claim of “Old School Kiwi Tucker” We shared a strong, piping hot pot of tea ( loose leave of course), a scrumptious date scone with butter, and to cap it off a vanilla sundae with caramel and a wafer! The other patrons looked similarly satisfied. Another cafe worth a stop to sup.

The decor was a wee bit yesteryear as well - and we sat outside with glimpses of the estuary ( a pity the trees had been logged so close to town - on the other side of...

Make sure you call into Ray's Place for a great early (or late) morning serving of good old fashioned kiwi tucka on your way to or from the ferry. We had a mammoth cheesy scone and a brekkie bun with very decent coffee. Service was outstanding and the quaint tea house asthetic made it feel like we were in Ray's farm kitchen. Treats and goodies cooked on site, the yummy smells emenating from the kitchen complement the wide array of homestead baking and donut cabinet.

A really quaint little place with an altogether charming appearance both inside and out. We arrived for lunch on a Monday, most other places in Havelock were closed, it was late 1-30 pm ish. Despite this the place was bright and clean the staff friendly and attentive. Plus the food was fresh and tasty, what more could you ask? If you're passing through Havelock stop off and give it a try.
