Very disappointed and a waste of money! Popped over from Nelson for lunch, first time under new ownership. To say I was disappointed was an understatement My husband and I both ordered the fish and chips, the delivery of our food was super quick! On arrival noticed my husband fish was a lot bigger than my portion. One of my fillets was particularly smaller, It was overcooked, dry and the chip’s greasy. My mesclun salad was rotten with leaves stuck together rotting. Large chunks of red onion cut like you’re making stock, not a salad. The chef came out of the kitchen and hovered around the restaurant asking how the meals were. Which I replied good, how intimidating having the chef ask how their food is! How does a customer tell him his food isn’t up to scratch in front of other customers!? When the waitress came and asked how the meal was, I said it was pretty average explained what was wrong with it and showed her. Her reply was I’ll let the chef know. No apology, no nothing. $30 each for a plate of greasy chips, over cooked fish and rotting mesclun. Our local fish and chip shop does a better meal at half the price! As a person who works in the industry there’s many things you can improve on. One- the meals coming out so quickly, is anything actually cooked from scratch Or just reheated? I’m pretty sure the fish is bought in pre battered and pre cooked which is a real shame considering your location right on the waterfront. Food Control- The mesclun will sweat if left in its plastic bag, take it out, sort through the leaves so it doesn’t end up on the plate! Service- when you have a complaint..address it!! The customer is the one who keeps you in business!! We are not always in the right, but reading your reviews you haven’t listened to any of us. Do better and grow your business into a place we...
Read moreDisappointing experience.... Started with coffees - they were luke-warm & had to be re-made. Three of us ordered Beer battered Fish & Chips then the waitress came back to tell us she had forgotten they had NO fish left. We went through the menu again & ordered a pizza & a bowl of chips. The Pizza came out & the waitress asked us to check the Pizza to see if it was hot enough as she didn't think it was, one of us tried the Pizza - it was luke-warm! The waitress said she would take it away to have it warmed up, then she came back & told us they were having to remake the Pizza! We have never been to a restaurant before where we have been asked to check whether the meal is hot or not. In the meantime the chips came out so we ended up eating those while we waited for the Pizza. Pizza came out & it was warmer but not hot. The Pizza was below average. The other person in our group ordered Roast vegetables with Salmon - it was luke-warm/cold & warmer in the centre of the dish. One of our group went to the disability toilet, the light was not working so she had to use the other toilets. Paying for such a disappointing experience added to it all. We have all decided we will not return - a very easy decision! PS: The one star rating we have given is only because you can not post this review without...
Read moreIf I could paint a picture of my experience at Slip inn, I'd use the darkest, most repulsive colors in the universe. From the moment I walked in, it felt like entering a black hole of despair. The service was so bad, it was as if the staff were actively trying to avoid eye contact, like celestial bodies repelling each other.
And then came the "food." Oh, the food! I ordered the salmon popadeli pasta, a dish so unholy, it defies description. Imagine the worst possible combination of flavors, textures, and culinary sins, and you're only halfway there. The salmon tasted like it had been dredged from the bottom of a forgotten sea, and the popadeli pasta was a soggy, flavorless mess. Each bite was a new level of culinary disappointment, a supernova of bad taste.
But the worst part? The atmosphere. I couldn't help but notice the palpable tension among the staff. Whispers, hushed tones, and then...screaming. It sounded like someone was being torn apart, and the workers looked absolutely terrified. It made me question the way the owner treats his staff.
Honestly, eating at Slip inn was like drifting through a cosmic wasteland, devoid of joy and hope. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like a rogue asteroid. You'll...
