We booked lunch here with family King's birthday weekend. We were from out of town along with another couple from out of town as we were told it was quite nice by our family that dine here fairly regularly. We were very disappointed. Took ages to ask if we wanted drinks then when we did order it took quite some time for these to be brought to the table. Meals ordered and again these took nearly an hour to arrive, my mother and I ordered the pork belly with apple sauce, there was hardly a drop of apple sauce on the plate and when questioned we were told it was there amongst the gravy which looked invisible. My two children ordered the kids me u and their desert was brought out with most of our mains! I mentioned they hadn't had their mains as yet and the waitress said they were coming. I me ruined this to a different waitress and she said they sholdnt have even been brought out yet as th ice-cream would've melted before they had their mains. Their mains took a other 10 minutes to arrive after the rest of us. Also another lady in our group was still waiting for her main also along with the kids. We started and felt ride doing so but our lunch would've gone cold waiting. We had to try catch a waitress to ask for more drinks as no one offered more drinks, not once did anyone come over and ask how our meals were. Took ages for our plated to be cleared off the table when we finished and we then again had to catch a waitress to ask for the kids deserts to now be brought out, this again took a while. No one bothered to aks any of us if we wanted a desert or a coffee etc.. It seemed the waitresses were all over the place, the manager seemed to be bit doing a great job managing the restaurant and when it came time to pay, she was very quick to take our money but again. I question asked about our experience. No mints on the desk as a nice gesture. The food was OK but I definitely wouldn't recommend this place unless they make some serious changes. Very disappointing cos seeing we spent well over $400 and couldve spent more if the experience...
Read moreI give four stars because I have eaten there many times before and enjoyed the experience, but today I was let down, the first thing we were told was that two large groups were coming in and that if we didn't order quickly before they came in we would have to wait a further 25 to 30 minutes, we went straight to the main course as we felt if we had a starter we would be hanging around for the mains, at no time were we asked if we wanted a drink, so after being ignored for 10 minutes or so I stopped a woman who I assumed was the head waitress, she said she would get to us shortly, within 5 minutes the waitress who originally served us came to take our drinks order, they arrived fairly promptly however my wife's drink had an insect floating on top, on complaint this was replaced, 10 minutes or so later our food arrived, my wife had battered fish and l had ordered a ribeye steak medium rare, with garlic butter, it actually came with a mushroom sauce, after waiting to catch the eye of a waitress it was returned to the kitchen. The waitress told me I was to be given 10 percent off the cost of the steak meal, and perhaps 10 minutes later another meal was put before me, this time a steak with garlic butter, but when I cut into the steak it was cooked well done, in my mind a well done steak is overcooked and tasteless, when I complained to the waitress she said she would have to talk to the manager, she came back and told me I would be given an extra price cut of 50 percent, by now my wife had finished her meal and mine was going cold and I was exasperated by the whole experience, I ate the meal as I felt I was going nowhere. My observations as a Chef of approximately 60 years was, the restaurant was understaffed, the kitchen couldn't cope with two large tables at once, the waitresses were stressed, and this as any caterer knows causes mistakes to be made. I will go back one more time to see if things have improved, if it will be...
Read moreGroup of four. 3 having the Porterhouse steak. 2 medium-rare & 1 medium. The medium was as ordered but the eater commented that it was rather tough and tasteless. the 1st medium-rare was more medium than rare & once again, commented on as tasteless. Mine came as well done, not medium-rare. I sent it back. The second steak was more medium than medium-rare. It was tasteless. The size of the three steaks was consistent across all of them, being small. Width was 2.5 fingers and 1/2 a hand span in length. the thickness was the width of your thumb. Veges was 3 round 10mm slices of potatoes, 1/2 a tomato, called caramelized but all three of us agreed that was not so, just burnt. The rest of the plate was a large portion of salad. Not Value For Money. Eaten there a couple of years ago and the steaks were first class then. It was a warm night, I started sweating, noticed all windows were closed. Asked why the Air Conditioners were switched off and was told that the staff get too cold. What! .... never mind the comfort of the customers. The design of the Air Conditioning is apparently inadequate. A couple of nights later, 2 of us had steaks at the Gladstone Inn. No comparison, large, tasty & cooked exactly as I ordered. Perhaps the Farriers have "cooks" rather...
