Mr Chips Takeaway — Restaurant in Masterton

What a mess you guys cause me!! I ordered combination chow mein, for the veggies & gravy 😋 ..I used Deliver easy app $7.00 fee, my meal was $20.00..delivery guy delivered my food in a pleasant manner. When I checked my ordered it wasn’t what I ordered, it was combination fried rice & yes it was yuk jus peas didn’t enjoy it 1 bit. I rang Mr Chips & I asked the girl what was my order & she said combination chow mein to which I said I got fried rice. Nice girl btw going the extra mile. She said for me to place another order & pay plus another delivery fee, which the boss lady didn’t want to reimburse but would reimburse me for chow mein. How do you reimburse? then it was delivery guys fault. My name is on the bag, so the delivery guy did his job. The fault remains in the kitchen with the cook. So I’m complaining to the girl who I did apologise to & the boss lady is just rah rah rah in the back ground couldn’t understand a word. So her way of fixing her own mistake was for me to go there & do goodness knows what! Waste of time being on Deliver Easy.. no good for elderly without a car, my food was a disappointment, & the boss lady is a shocker folks. Never again, Worst...

The young staff aren't nice to me but are to my partner maybe it's just a girl thing. I work in a fast food place so I know about the stresses. Just is every time. Doesn't stop me from coming though. Always the most amazing fish. And the mushrooms are to die for! I took my family who came up from Christchurch to Mr Chips and I was so sad the one time I wasn't happy with their fish n chips was that time. The chips were under cooked but the rest was okay.

I usually go for Chow mein but went for fried rice this one time. My partner loves it but I found it hard and a little raw. The rice was either over cooked or not cooked enough I'm not sure but I'm going to stick to chow mein . Nick still swears by the steak fried rice, however we are all different.

I've had the smorgasbord a few times and love it. Though I have to admit if you are around other customers, the customers will get agro at you. That's not the stores fault!

Overall I love this place. I don't come for the service, I come for the food which...

The food served here is delicious, whether it is off the menu or from the chinese smorgasbord. The staff are wonderful and compliment the owners, one who fishes commercial so ya know the fish is fresh! The smorgasbord has lots to offer and is replenished even before they run out, and off the menu portions are big too, making it great value for your hard earned coin! I find the atmosphere and attitude of the staff very friendly and comforting, making one feel right at home. When they're not run off their feet they are more than happy to have a chat & a laugh. I've also had the privilege of being introduced to their young child who is just as chatty as their mum! All in all making Mr Chips a great choice when one is having take aways 😁 p.s. did I mention they also won the bestest hot chips in the whole of Aotearoa just...
