Kiwi Kai Nelson — Restaurant in Nelson

In the Google Maps, place was in a completely different location . When I tried to order it was My first and only unfriendly experience in New Zealand. As owner asked me to review again and explain why my experience was bad. I was trying to order food for my birthday, first time in New Zealand, first time to try hangi. All palava with Google and finally I managed to contact on the phone. Few messages back and forward, not possible to pay when food received, need to pay online. And then I wasn't sure what exactly to order. Never tried hangi in my life, how big is portion, online says 6 hangi....maybe silly question what to order exactly, but it was really disappointing not to receive answer. Owner just ignored my last message, and i didn't dare order 6 hangi. For this reason I can't leave better review. But in general New Zealand took my heart and I'm planning to return...

I've been looking for a cafe/coffee shop where I feel comfortable and where I can write - Kiwi Kai exceeded my expectations as it's a homely little Cafe tucked between Miller's Acre and the AA. Food was amazing - would highly recommend the Salmon burger if you're a salmon fan such as myself. Best Hangi so far!

I’ve had many hangi before but not as good as this one! I had to find the page on FB cause it’s that GOOD! Great size portion, the pork had its fat and still juicy, the stuffing 😩😩 out of this world!! I would definitely drive all the way up to Nelson for this, or if you’re ever in Chch I’d be first in line!
