I enjoyed a wonderful evening dinner on the deck with perfect weather and great company the Friday before last. The wait staff were very friendly, polite and some of us had particular requests in relation to the menu. One person was gluten free. I am not a coleslaw fan so the young man said he would check with the chef as to an alternative salad. I said some green leaves and tomato would suffice but was given a Greek salad to go with my steak and chips which exceeded my expectations.

Only one gripe. I ordered the steak, and the menu stated it was a Rib Eye Fillet. I have been around for quite some time and the meat I received was probably a sirloin or rump. The shape or taste was nothing life a rib eye fillet and it required a steak knife to eat it. It was cooked to perfection but not what the menu stated. Otherwise a very pleasant evening in the most perfect...

Fabulous situation overview the water facing the cut. Great music provided by the visiting Irish duo. Great company. We were celebrating a good friend's birthday. Food, very poor. Cold mashed potato with a cold piece of chicken wrapped in bacon. No Veg. Maybe I could have ordered a side but this wasn't clear on the menu. And at $35 I thought I had paid for a complete main. Service. Comical. They bought two plates to our table of 9 almost as soon as we had ordered. No more plates for at least 10 minutes. Then they came and took the two plates away!!! Hilarious. Apparently, the meals were meant for someone else. Luckily, our table were polite and didn't start on them. Imagine how cold those meals must have been!!! My tip. Eat at the local fish and chip shop or at Styx, then go along to the boathouse for the music...

Again we dined for lunch at the Boathouse this week. If you have not enjoyed the pleasure and loveliness of the experience and setting of the Boathouse, you have a treat in store. To say it must be one of the most iconic Nelson venues to experience is an understatement. We enjoyed lunch here, but the Boathouse gifts you evening meals and entertettaiment also. Check out their Web site Back to our lunch... The Beer battered fish n chips is without hesitation, the Best Ever.... Maybe the best in Nelson... Perfect with a Captain Cooker Nelson Ale. And the setting is without hesitation one of the best ever in Nelson. Pat and I love every time we come. We love the warm greeting, the generous meals, the great service and the...

I would like to rate Boathouse down due to a very disappointing experince with a dessert. I ordered Sticky Date Pudding when visiting a wonderful puppet show there and received a tiny half slice of date bread. It did not taste bad, but it highly underpassed my expectations based on being a big fan of the dessert called Sticky Date/Toffee Pudding. Other than the poor portion size and the lack of stickiness, the price of the dessert (15 dollars) made my experience even more annoying considering the value of the food item.

We have captured many beautiful weddings at the Boathouse in Nelson! The views looking out over the water are stunning, and you can often catch a beautiful sunset from the deck. The inside is quite spacious, white walls, wooden floors and a little bit of character makes this venue such a charmer and we have found the Boathouse staff so always be so helpful and friendly. We cannot wait to capture another wedding at The Boathouse again very soon.

Called in with Matty on our trip. A hidden gem, an amazing sundeck with views that warrant being in magazine. The staff were warm and friendly and just seemed to treat everyone as regulars, maybe they are! We had fish and chips, Greek salad and tortillas off the menu. Everything was excellent, tasty, well presented and excellent value. A good range of local beer on tap. Check opening hours, maybe lunch is the best option.
