Spices Indian Takeaway — Restaurant in North Island

I think we had an average curry years ago from here, or maybe we were just put off by the reviews for years.

But we have brought takeaway 3-4 times in the last few months and enjoyed all the dishes including chicken korma, garlic naan, chefs special chicken curry, lamb korma, chicken biryani, tandoori chicken, and garlic tikka.

The medium has got a little spiciness but does not overpower the flavour, and it has a touch of home cooked flavour to it unlike a food court curry. It’s not oily, and I would say a fair amount of meat and overall serving size. It’s usually two meals for me with extra rice. The service can be a little bit and miss I think, but not bad.

Tried again after a couple of years based on other reviews and remembered why we don't go there. Although the chicken was well cooked the sauces for all three curries we bought were really bland and flavorless. Somehow managed to make steamed rice also flavorless as well. Butter chicken was too sour (too much tomato paste?) and the jalfrezi had a random mix of non standard vegetables in it which were crunchy and just seemed weird and out of place.The saag paneer was ok as were the Naans. Keema naan came with small bricks of lamb rather than “mince” as described and how everyone else serves it. Was lacking the spices it promised too
