The Boundary Restaurant + Bar — Restaurant in North Island

Disorganised, had coffee in and was served in takeaway cups, had a ham scone and donut which came from the closed Cafe next door which we knew and wasn't a problem, just the quality of the food was poor, staff were inexperienced, clearly training is an issue. The atmosphere was nice, this place has potential but if staff and systems are not sorted can see it running into trouble in the future. Won't be back again as it was pretty disappointing. First impressions matters!

Thank you for your response. My review is based on today's experience. I mentioned the Cafe food was from next door, we didn't have a problem with that, but didn't expect to he served food that tasted and looked like it came from New World bakery. The staff were friendly no issues there, but clearly inexperienced because the cashier didnt have a clue what they were doing, had to ask another who also said they didn't know, we felt the price we were charged was high for the quality we received. So regardless of your previous good reviews you have to be 100% all day everyday to keep getting them. You would have been better to not offer those options from the Cafe which I can only assume you must own also, if it isn't something you would normally do, don't do it. Because we were extremely disappointed and can only based the review on what we got, not your other menu. If one part isn't good we will never know if your other part is as the chances of wanting to come back is currently 0%. At least I'm telling you. Disappointing experience, booked online and received and email confirming my booking. When we arrived there the individual who met us was rude, told me I didn't have a booking, so I advised that I did and showed my email confirmation. I was then told in future I should make my bookings earlier in the day because booking online later in the day made it harder for them to have a table ready. I politely advised the person that I had done it several hours prior and nothing on their website indicated that I had to book a minimum number of hours beforehand. I was then told again that in future I should make sure that I made my bookings earlier if I wanted to dine at the restaurant otherwise they might not be able to seat me. I am very aware that all businesses are stretched and short staffed, however if they don't want people to be able to make reservations online then they need to disable that function on their website. I don't believe that customers should be treated in this way. My family and I won't be going back and I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone else go there either. My wife and i went for a dinner a last saturday and stayed quite late had a really lovely time, food was really great and came out really fast and our service was even better!. Our waitress was really lovely, quite funny and really friendly, she made the environment more cruisy than formal; we weren’t dressed very formal as we decided to pop in on a bike ride, we said we will be back in hope we would have the same treatment. We came in when there was barely any people and yet our food came out late and was the wrong order - didn’t mention anything during the time but it was quite upsetting as the waitress seemed new and didn’t know what she was doing. We were also served by a really rude woman who didn’t seem like a normal waitress but a manger instead as she was wearing a white top while the rest of the waiters had black tops. When going up to pay we were approached by the same manger and she rudely mentioned the price of our food - which was unfortunately very dare.
