The worst coffee and "pancakes" I have had for a very long time. The pancakes are not cooked from scratch and they are more like paknsave packet pikelets. They were barely warmed. The bacon was not cooked from scratch and appeared to be some cheap bacon that was barely heated. Not crispy like good quality bacon. The strawberry syrup was awful and unnecessary as there was generic, imitation maple syrup. The only palatable thing was the banana. The trim fat white coffee tasted like filter coffee and I certainly did not hear the familiar sound of a proper espresso machine even though there was one there. A flat white, maybe at a pinch, but tepid and nasty. I was tossing up about whether to voice my dissatisfaction. I am glad I did. The manager owner did offer a refund which I accepted, but made the problem mine when she said I should have asked if the pancakes were premade or not! It is a pity this experience was poor. We should have been alerted to the emptiness of the café compared to the one down the road which was absolutely full with customers. It was a busy Sunday in Sanson. I would not recommend. Go down the road or go to Bulls where at least you can get decent coffee and food.

We had the most yummiest French toast I think I have ever tasted & the bacon was cooked to absolute perfection. I don't think I have ever had bacon that was so nice. Thanks so much to the ladies that were there that day. We were late in the day, so really appreciated being welcomed, instead of telling us we are closing soon & kitchen closed, like other establishments.

On way to Wanganui to play in lawn bowls Duthie Cup. There were 12 of us arriving within minutes of each other and we were served fast. Great cheese scones and good chunky biscuits! Nice atmosphere and lovely staff. A great craft and gift business next door.

Very disappointed... we live locally and like to support local businesses.... in saying that we just walked out of the The Church Cafe and we will not be back.

No acknowledgment on arrival (only one other couple in there) we decided to order breakfasts off the menu... While waiting to be serviced we took a look at the counter food.

The bacon & egg muffins contents were cover in mould.

I asked for some service as still not acknowledged. I informed the girl behind the counter. All she said was 'ok' and walked off (I'm guessing to get someone)

We left and ended up at Mint Bulls where we were greeted with a friendly smile and hello even though the server was busy...

Used to stop here on my way to Palmerston every week, on the Sunday 18 2025 I order two flatwhite coffee to have in the store, and we sitted outside as usual, the cashier prepared the wrong coffee for take away and left them at the counter, after a while she just decided to go to our table almost throwing them complaining about the coffee cups sitting for long at the counter with a horrible attitude! I am never going back to the place!...
