Yatra Restaurant — Restaurant in North Island

In the past I have dined in at Yatra and really enjoyed the food. However, I recently had a very bad experience with Take Away ordering online. When you order online from the Yatra website, you are actually using DineIn.co.nz to place your order. There is no indication this is the case until you receive the email. My partner and I ordered then selected the time we would pickup our order. We paid via cc and received a confirmation email. When we arrived at Yatra IT WAS CLOSED! That was very strange. We had to go elsewhere for our dinner. We sent an email asking for a refund, but no reply. Then a second email and no reply. A week later we stopped in to Yatra to ask about getting a refund. The manager was not interested! My expectation was they should have said, "I'll take care of this for you!", but they didn't! This situation was not our fault, but theirs, yet it had become our problem. Instead they phoned Menulog (not sure why they did that, as we had placed our order via DINEIN via the Yatra website) and handed the phone to my partner. Thankfully the Menulog person was able to give a phone number to contact DINEIN. After a brief conversation with the DINEIN owner, we were assured of a refund. The refund came a week later. I'm not impressed at all by the service from Yatra, and we will not be going back. I am impressed by the response from the DINEIN owner, but not as impressed with DINEIN not...

Flavourless. Bland. Not even remotely as described or expected. More expensive than other FAR superior establishments.

Bengali Fish Medium - Slightly sweet, NO spice, ordered medium and it was less than mild. Like a water cracker, hold the cheese, kind of mild. So mild it would say sorry at the mere idea of inconveniencing you. Perhaps it is Canadian.

Lamb Nilgiri - Nilgiri is a GREEN MASALA curry, this was yellow like a korma and yet still utterly flavourless, like bleached flour. I don't think it had ever been so much as introduced to a mint or coriander leaf. I don't think there were mint or corriander leaves in the building when this curry was conceptualized.

Vege pakoda x6 - We got 2x wafer thin battered potato slices, 2x heavily battered flavourless cauliflour florets and a handful of passable onion baji. Not a single "deep fried mixed vegetable" fritter in sight.

The naan are large and buttery but if they have ever seen the inside of a real tandoor then I will eat the pile of leaves on my drivewayas penance.

Don't insult your tastebuds or your wallet, go...

Don’t know how they got 5stars but to me it was terrible they did really like money hungry people, put an order nearly $100/- takeaway...told me the order will be placed in 30mins, took over 1hr to gv the order but again wasn’t my correct order been told it will be slightly different due to their issue, when I had it was totally their choice not mine, very disappointed, big price for 4pack little family. Can’t blame as it shows their prices but you won’t get worth what u pay..terrible taste and tummy issues... Never recommend this place Yatra at all, if you really need that type of foods go to Ammu or other nearby places. Not definitely this Yatraaa... And Yatra management pls take your orders only if you can serve, if not pls let the client know then we decide whether go...
