Took the family to surf and turf restaurant in my home town Ruakaka had a wonderful meal in pleasant surroundings chef Warren served us delicious food cooked exactly how we wanted it. The restaurant which is part of the Ruakaka Tavern although operating kind of on its own was quiet so I suggest all locals call in and have a great meal and take the kids who are catered for on the menu and enjoy. Read moreMy partner and I went to the local Ruakaka Tavern the local people are soooo friendly and welcoming. Decided to have a meal there as we had been having a lovely afternoon. Oh man I not one to criticize chef's on our their food should be cooked but on a scale from 1 to 10 I'd give his presentation, quality of food, flavour, was top notch. 11 out of 10 😀. And I didn't leave anything on the plate bar the bone.
Awesome work to the chef & the bar tender. Would definitely recommend that if your heading north before Whangarei, stop in at Ruakaka Tavern...
Read moreCame here in 2002 and had literally the worst steak I've had in my life. It was so bad that now, 21 years later I'm still thinking about how bad that steak was.
Was dry. Leathery. Thin. Tasted like someone cooked it on a forman grill for 20 minutes then threw it in the microwave for another 5 for the fun of it.
Looking at the pictures now it seems quite good. Definitely improved in the last 21 years. But it's 2 am, I'm half way across the world and This steak was so bad it's keeping me up at night.
