Firstly I began by trying the fish and chips here as they had been recommended on numerous occasions by different people as the best chippy around. I can confirm the fish and chips are spot on, the snapper was fluffy and the batter crispy and not greasy accompanied by some decent chips that soaked up the vinegar just right. Then the other day I came again to try one of the burgers, I chose the Kiwi burger which consisted of a well smashed beef patty, fried egg, sliced cheese, beetroot, pickle, tomato and lettuce topped with relish and alioli and all held together with a soft sesame bun. This was a banging burger I must say! And today I came to try something for breakfast, a bacon, egg, cheese, alioli and of course HP brown sauce all together nicely in a toasted butty. Great coffee too and a lovely spot to eat in surrounded by smiling facing and served by friendly staff. Amazing little place,...

We came last January and wanted to come back when we were next in New Zealand. The fish was so delicious (we tried both battered and grilled) and so were the chips, and the burgers were lovely. The staff were amazebombs and so friendly and helpful, especially the lovely lady at the cashier. I also tried the ginger slice which was very gingery but a little too sweet for my tastebuds. If you're a small eater you might want to go for a side of battered fish with half a serving of chips, because the chips arrive looking mountainous. A full serving of chips goes for six dollars and a 100-gramme portion of fish is $12. Also tried the rose lemonade because it was less sweet and it was still very refreshing and not too bland at all. It's a nice place to stop for fish and chips if you're on your way to goat island marine reserve. Leigh is such a pretty place and the vibe is chillax...

We rocked up after 7pm as a big group of about 20 on the 27/12/24.

Honestly the team handled it with ease, I think the longest wait was 20mins which is nothing at all for such a massive walk in, not including what orders they already had.

Huge praise to the team on and thanks for the amazing feed, fresh fish, crispy batter, amazing speed and service. Another highlight for me was the quality for the price point, outstanding! Everyone was raving about it for days during our stay in Matakana.

You can really tell the chefs/staff take pride in their work. Thanks for such a high quality and refreshing food experience during the busy holiday...

Battered fish was nicely seasoned and was fresh. However, was a rad bit oily. Could feel the oil covering the entire outside of my mouth. Chips was also nicely salted and crispy. Pineapple fritter was half the size of a normal pineapple fritter. ☹️Overall pretty good experience, staff were super friendly. Ambiance would have been nice if it weren't for the screaming kids (not the takeaways fault).

Local takeaway shop with a selection of sandwiches, fish and chips, pies and cakes. The fish and chips are recommended - fish is fresh and cooked to perfection. Also had the sausage roll which surprised me with a real sausage inside! Very limited seating outside, would’ve been good if there were some seats inside or umbrellas for outdoor seating.

Leigh eats is a local community cafĂŠ where locals come for their morning coffee and burgers for lunch. During the day, the windows and doors are wide open giving a feeling of being outside inside. Although There is a constant whiff of fry emitting from the kitchen. The breakfast bun and fish burger are very tasty. Good coffee.
