The standard of service at this cafe was appalling. I have never been treated like so nationally and internationally. After I ordered my food, I was asked if I wanted any drinks. I said, some hot water please. I noticed after paying that I was charged extra and politely expressed my confusion. I was met with thinly veiled contempt. Apparently the $2 covered the cost of CUP and the hot water coming through the ZIP of the coffee machine and a wedge of lemon on the side. I told the server that I had never been charged for hot water before. He unnecessarily replied, with attitude, that [I’d] been lucky so far. Will update this the day I get charged for requesting hot water.
I would’ve accepted tap water and had never requested the lemon. I then asked if cold water was free. And he replied, yes, and gestured to the fridge of cold water. I asked for a refund. I was not told of the charge at the time when this occurred, which is DEFINITELY not the usual in a common transaction of goods and services.

Read moreWe happened to stop by this little cafe on the way from Christchurch to Hanmer Springs and it turned out to be a fantastic stop on the way! The little Red Post cafe has everything you need, including great coffee, great food and the portion of the food is good too, worth the money! Staffs are friendly and always welcoming to show the "hospitality"!
Unlike the owner of "You Hanoi Me" being ridiculously arrogant to us last week. We posted a bad Google review of his restaurant that the receptionist would not give us the table when there were a few empty ones. Just because the owner didn't like to see the negative reviews posting on Google, he blamed us to say we were "uneducated and unprofessional"?! He has blamed the same to other bad reviewers on Google too!
We loved this Red Post cafe and definitely will come...
Read moreThe Red Post Cafe is a charming and welcoming spot, perfect for a relaxed lunch stop. Conveniently located in Culverden, it offers a great selection of fresh, tasty cabinet food and cooked meals. We especially enjoyed the strong, well-made coffee. The cafe’s friendly and efficient staff make you feel right at home. We tried the cheese scone, carrot cake, Thai curry pie, salmon soufflé, cappuccino, and iced latte — all delicious and satisfying. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with both indoor seating and a lovely outdoor garden area shaded by trees. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, and the cafe is popular with both locals and travelers. Whether you’re passing through or staying in the area, The Red Post Cafe is a reliable and enjoyable place to...
