My fiancé and I tossed a coin between this joint and one other for a long awaited lunch on the way back from the cape, Pukenui Pacific won, sadly. The starving bellies of ours bitterly disappointed with the lack of food being offered with only sandwiches and fridge items available. Clearly a favourite pitstop to many with plenty of people seated on the deck. Service was average, we sought our own table, scrambled to find a staff member that could explain there was no food to order. The hungry in me wished I’d flipped tales over heads, alas the beer was cold and delicious, fairly priced and the fella behind the bar pointed us in the direction of the takeaway food place adjoining the building which while they lacked an understanding of what multitasking was, or had any sauce available the fish and chips were delicious, crunchy outside and fluffy morales inside, short wait time and...

What a gem of a place on the way up to Cape Reinga. Such a lovely atmosphere and we loved the decor. Popular with locals and visitors of all sorts. We had a lovely coffee and yummy cheese scone around 12md on the way up and by the time we were coming back it was dark and we decided to stop there for dinner, if they were open and they were. Such a lovely welcome by Gloria, the owner, who sat us at a nice table for 2. Hubby had a sirloin steak with mushrooms in a delicious sauce, salad and fries. I had the most divine scallop mornay ... best ever! Magic flavour in every mouthful! Plus it had a lovely selection of veges to the side. The garlic naan bread as a starter was delicious too! Two very happy Pukus when we left there. Would thoroughly recommend you stop there on your trip north or coming back. Thank you for such a...

I can't rate this place highly enough. The food was incredible. We had takeaways last night, and breakfast at the cafe this morning. Everything we ate was outstanding. The staff seemed to really take pride in what they were serving and they were clearly passionate about food. I would come back to Pukenui over and over again, just because of how much I love the food and the atmosphere at Pukenui Pacific. Food highlights: The garlic chips were so good we came back for more, and the toasted sandwich ingredients were high quality. The kiwi breakfast was a standout too. Everything on the plate was delicious and...

Pukenui Pacific Takeaways was simply the best. After taking a tour up to the Cape I was travelling back down with my clients. I rang theses people requesting 4x full fish chips and salad meals as I would be there in 15 minutes. By the time I had them seated the meals were there and cold refreshments in hand. The service and staff were great . Thank you very much I’ll be back with more customers. Gary . Bay Cabs Paihia.

Excellent find - easily missed on a drive but stop and plan a meal. The general menu and pizzas are good but the hidden secret is the amazing curry menu! The service was friendly and efficient despite being busy. There was cold draft beer in chilled glasses, a reasonable selection of wine and soft drinks. Located next to the camp ground and wharf.

For being the last stop, they don’t hold back! Pulled the emergency break and done a U-turn when I saw they were open for bunch after camping for 4 nights far up north. Exceeded expectations! Great coffee and Eggs Bene, even compared to Wellington standards. Wish I could stay and have a pint but 9am is a bit early.
