Taipa Tavern — Restaurant in Te Hiku Community

I was really saddened and disgusted by the arrogance of the new owners to try and shrug off their repeated misspelling of local names within our rohe. When corrected - they simply refuse to acknowledge or correct the appalling misspelling. They may be just words to you but to us they represent a deep whakapapa connection that goes back generations. If you want to shift into our rohe and run a bar then have the decency to try and understand some of our culture. You are in the heart...

An abominable hell hole of depravity. The kind of place where you couldn't trust your mother to behave in a responsible manner. I for one have been known to imbibe the occasional ale and bludge cigarettes from fat people in red hats at "The Table of Knowledge" at the backside of the building. Taipa Tavern is also renowned for the annual Pig, Possum and Eel competition at the end of June and several Fishing events...

Excellent place to have a cold beer and good yarn. Ended up spending a lot of time here as it was fun and welcoming. Pizza was thin crust and yum. I'm not into horses but had a flutter from a locals tip which paid for my beer. Pretty solid band...
