• edited as only way to respond to reply* Thank you for your lengthy, if inaccurate response. I fully understand the difficulties currently being experienced by the hospo industry at present. I have adult children currently in management positions within the industry. One in fact, successfully operates 3 very large venues. The service we received today was actually non existent, We were given a faulty order buzzer. It didn't work and when we didn't respond to apparently being buzzed our order was shouted out from the counter, and one of us went up to collect it...paper plates and wooden cutlery and all. So no table service. I do note you use the term "cafe" in your name, and you most certainly charge cafe prices. Perhaps you should consider amending your branding to truly reflect your business. Compass Coffee Cart is perhaps more honest. No proper cafe serves a cappucino that is to be consumed on site in a metal tumbler and food on paper plates with disposable cutlery. I regularly visit many fine establishments...Sweet Vanilla Cafe, Revive Cafe, Tartines, Gear St Union, Maranui Cafe, Spruced Goose, to name a few. Awesome location. Maybe a certain staff member was having a bad day, I went to ask for a glass of water and she went to bring it up on the til and said that’d be 60cents. I didn’t take my wallet up to the till. I said “oh don’t you have a jug and cup sort of thing here” she responded “this is a coffee cart not a café, you have to pay for the cups” I just said I’d go to the car instead and get my daughters water bottle. What she said wasn’t super rude but her delivery was, I felt like she was telling me off. It’s a bit absurd as the car park has allocated ‘cafe’ parks. I also noticed on my exit that they had a water bowl for dogs. Coffee was fine and basically ready...

Found ourselves hungry and in a part of the Hutt we aren't often in, so this was a random pick of the map. What a find! Friendly staff. Great decor. Food and drinks were yummy. What surpassed all that was the benefits of the location plus a thoughtful gesture - the staff member provided us with a bag of bread crusts to feed the swans, seagulls and fish right off the pontoon - from the little bottom hoppers hiding in the seaweed to the trevally zooming up from the deep. It was clear from the behavior of the swans this was a regular event, but it made our stop there super special....
