OK. My mom is Japanese, my wife is Japanese, and I am from NYC, but lived in Japan for years. The Ramen Shop is legit. I lived in California for ten years and could not find a single ramen shop this good. NYC has comparable ramen but at 300% the price (at least). That this spot is in a nice casual location in Karori and not stuffed somewhere downtown or on Cuba Street is a blessing. It’s possible to get seating on a Friday night as a walk-in, and the service is pretty fast (but not too fast) and delicious. I will be coming here a LOT and am so glad my 10 year-old spotted it and said “we should go there.” Good job, son. 🍜 I’m super judgy about tonkotsu ramen (pork bone broth), but this stuff passed the taste test. Not too greasy or salty, and the spicy version has...

If you've had real ramen in Japan, this won't cure your cravings unfortunately. Thick gristly pork, weak grey broth, cucumbers for some reason, flobby egg - and a spoon so big the handle drooped in the bowl and I had to hold it at the end like a chef taking a tasting sip lol. It might've been nicer if it was hotter, but at least it arrived quickly and the vibe in the store was chill. Won't come back for the ramen, but to be fair the other stuff on the menu looked...

A Local Gem for Exceptional Ramen!"

Had a fantastic meal at The Ramen Shop in Karori! Tried the Spicy Tonkotsu and Black Garlic Tonkotsu, both with added pickled shiitake – a delicious fusion of flavors that stands out. The Takoyaki was a tasty addition. The friendly atmosphere and good service made our visit even better. Most importantly, it's a joy having this quality ramen spot right here in Karori. Highly recommended for any...

So so ramen to be honest. Too light and salty. Service was not great given they are new maybe? Maybe they will keep improving their ramen and the soup. I have to say the shop in Newtown is better. So let’s see how they are doing in the future. I hope it will be much better with more practise. A good addition in Karori though.

We really like the ramen house in Newtown, and when they branched out in Karori, we needed to try it. Taste of the food are pretty much alike, but we think the Ramen in Newtown is served hotter. That’s our first try here in Karori; definitely will give another go next time and hoping they’ll serve a better/hotter dish.
