Decent spot for pies, but service was unfortunately appalling by one particular member of staff who treated us in an extremely hostile manner. Came here in the morning to grab some food and and do some trip planning for just under two hours. Place had plenty of seats free during the entirety of our stay, though eventually we were approached to see if we were ordering anything else and then rudely asked to leave for overstaying. We talked to the manager and he offered free coffees to try rectify the situation, though on the way out the said member of staff was still unapologetic, accusing us of talking to the manager. Once we were outside, other guests who had witnessed the fiasco shook their heads with us and said they also left in fear of being kicked out. Bring a local on the coast this is a real shame because we love it here and only hope that other people can have a great experience, and this was...

We stopped here for coffee and fish and chips. It was a bit crowded and they seemed a bit overwhelmed. The cashier had to make coffee, clean the tables and give out the food as well additionally to her being the cashier. We had to wait a bit for the coffee, but the coffee was good and the cashier apologised, so everything was fine and nothing to complain about! Then the fish and chips came. The fish was absolutely amazing. Not sure what's in the batter but it was delicious! The fries were good. And the price is also very good for so much fish! In my opinion worth a stop! Didn't like the tartar sauce that came with it, but that's just my taste. The cashier/server was very friendly as...

They went over and above with everything. We wanted bacon and egg rolls, which they don't seem to make in New Zealand. They went to so much effort. Made us a special toasted club sandwich with lots of bacon and egg, 3 slices of bread. We had a great coffee. Got to try the owner/chefs new savoury scone, warm out of the oven. The young man serving us was very warm and friendly. Remained calm when a bus load of Contiki tourists showed with requests for coffee. He was serving as well as making coffee. The next day we also ordered a bacon and egg toastie, but with cheese. No problems. May I also say both the toasties were delicious. Nice crunch, melted cheese. Excellent. Make sure you...

Small town Caffe.. I like reading other reviews and this time don't agree with the low reviews of recent visitors. If you got to Haast.... You know it's far from anything.... So small town prices ... We had great sandwiches, with plentt of flavour and made fresh. Smoothy was made fresh and delicious and the coffee was great. Friendly staff and even there where a few other customers the order came out quick... Support small town NZ and stop comparing it to your Big city offshore owned, fake bland flavour caffee... well done Haast!

Great little local cafe we were grateful to find after a big drive up from Queenstown on our way to Franz Josef. My partner & I got coffees and pies, and all of it was delicious. The pies are made by the owners and cooked fresh (we had the steak and cheese, mince and cheese, and venison pies), and the pricing was reasonable. They also have a gorgeous black Labrador so that was a bonus for us!
