Ibile Foods & Lounge has this captivating exterior that makes you want to jump right in even when you're not hungry. The Orange building is all shades of "bright and beautiful". The interior is not any less captivating, yet simple.
The ambiance is cool, and relaxing, and not heavy with the smell of food. That I find really pleasant.
While the eatery is located on the ground floor, the bar (which by the way is non smoking), and lounge are upstairs.
The eatery serves local cuisines, pastries, ice-cream, and drinks.
The lounge which is marked for Members Only, also gets converted to a club when there's need for such an activity. There's a regular DJ at the lounge, and music from here seeps through the building.
This is not a wheelchair friendly location, as it is neither wheelchair accessible, nor does it have a wheelchair parking space. It also does not have a spacious parking, and can only accommodate few cars, estimated at less than 20. It is very close to a major road, and that makes it dicey parking by the roadside.
Safety and Security: In case of an emergency, it doesn't have a visibly marked Muster Point, nor an emergency exit. Although it boasts of a viable security team.
The meals ordered were tasty, and has one looking forward to another visit. Prices are not overboard. It sure has a feel good atmosphere, and I am looking to visit again real soon.
A well lit, and clean...
Read moreWhere is that picture of what I ate - amala wallowing in ewedu and gbegiri soup, garnished with bokoto, abodi, fuku and grilled fish? Oh, I was so hungry that I forgot to take the picture!
So last Sunday I was involved in a hosting of Old Boys that coincided with the birthday of the mate in whose house the event held. I ordered 25L of palm wine from Ibile, hoping it would add some variety to our drinks menu. The owner of Ibile assured me it would be procured from The Source - Ile Ife. As the meeting started I got bogged down with anxiety - where do I know it will be sourced from? What if it isn't fresh? What if it makes my friends ill? What if there are all sorts of dirt in it?
Too late! People had started ordering for it. The aficionados were bragging that it couldn't be fresh, the more timid ones kept their distance. Within an hour, everyone was drinking it. Fresh, chilled, frothy palmy! I was receiving hi fives from guys who swore on palm wine. By the day's end I was tasked to make it a standard consumable at our events.
Kudos to Ibile for providing such a wonderful tonic. To say I'm impressed is to declare...
Read moreI've visited Ibile Foods a number of times and each time has left me with a subpar feel. I must say that my challenge isn't with the food itself, the food is alright. My challenge is with the staff. They don't apply themselves. One of the times, a staff blatantly told me that I couldn't buy half and half portion of rice and spaghetti after I have bought it twice before. Another time, I wanted Eba with ewedu soup, another staff told me they don't sell it like that. Makes me wonder if they made up the rules as they went, or this was the structure the management put in place. The staff don't know the prices of food items, they quote one thing and then you find another when you've made payments. The last straw for me was the last time I bought spaghetti with fish. The food was colder than a dog's nose. I asked for it to be microwaved, it was brought back still cold. I insisted that the food be reheated and until I started to make a scene before I got it back. So yeah, I think one...
