Placebo Restaurant and Bar — Restaurant in Lagos State

I visited Placebo with my husband in the evening.. the ambience is lovely although I did find it weird that we were all confined to just one sitting area. We got a table for 3.. The chairs were comfortable but we had one small round table. Didn't seem to be enough for two people, not to talk of 3.

Service was great .. the waitress was smart and proactive. However, she seemed to be overstretched having to go from table to table responding to their needs.

The food was just okay. It wasn't bad. I had the asun stir fry spaghetti and my husband had the grilled prawns and shrimp fried rice.

Now something I found weird was, even though we ordered for shrimp fried rice and grilled prawns, rhey served us the fried rice in ine olate and rhe grilled prawns in another plate with jollof rice. 😂 It was funny really. They said the prawns usually come with a side of rice... I feel like they could have mentioned this ahead instead of overwhelming us with rice. So one person now had to eat from two plates. A bit tacky for my liking.

The drinks were nice too! I had pink lady and oga had chapman. He stays safe with his drinks. Not an adventurous fellow 😂

Overall, it was a nice experience. I wish I could see more of their sitting areas.. it seemed a bit dull for an evening at a restaurant.. hopefully, it's more alive during the day. ... but I'd ...

The experience was a mixed bag, here’s why!! I went for the placebo burger [pulled beef] and tiramisu, and experienced heartbreak both ways - the burger was DRY which ruined it for me & tiramisu wasn’t available, so I got “chocolate cake” instead, which turned out to be a hard, dry [albeit tasty] muffin. I didn’t not see any accessibility options [entrance / exit, bathrooms…], the bathrooms are the GHETTO, and had this been the end of my visit, this review would be all negative. Alas, they were having a food tasting today and this led to conversations with the chef, staff and other patrons - here’s the part that improved the overall experience - I tried the Thai pesto shrimp pasta and I found the flavors subtle which was nice [spice lovers would need to request additional spice], the shrimp was tasty through & though and the texture was just right! I also had a bite of the duck l’orange which was tasty but dry. The chef [Ali] and Segun [head server / manager… not sure] stuck around for feedback, so I imagine there’ll be improvements for future patrons. That about sums up my placebo experience. I went there in the evening around 8 and half of the food they served me was bad/going bad. It literally had a smell and when I complained. The staff argued it was freshly made.

I ordered a platter and the only hot thing in it was the fries. I wonder since when freshly made chicken and turkey came out cold. The food also took forever to come and they messed up my order. The pictures on their menu are not always consistent with the food that they bring.

The only thing they had going for them was the ambience and maybe it was that way cause I came in the night when it was empty.

Also, they refused to serve smirnoff ice and beer cause apparently, it’s in a bottle and can only be taken in the bar outside. Why then is it in the menu???

I had a horrible time there and left around 50% of my food untouched cause I couldn’t...
