Gánh Pho & Banh Mi — Restaurant in Lillestrøm

First time visiting today, and was pleasantly surprised. Had no expectations other than of course that I expected vietnamese food. Have been to many places with similar menu, but already going into the facilities I started smiling. Inviting, lit both from large windows and nice lamps, spacious and colourful facilities. Quite many tables, for both single, couples or groups, without feeling cramped. The staff are very friendly, serviceminded and informative. The kitchen area is open, so you can see the chefs working, and they answer questions with a smile. Finally the food. We were a group of 4 adults and 4 kids, so we ordered many different courses. The food was tasteful and really good! They customized each course if we wanted. I like hot and spicy food, Asian hot. They managed to spice my dish incredibly balanced. It was hot, but still could make out all the flavours. Highly recommend...

The 99,- banh-mi baguette I bought was as plain and bland as they come. No pickled anything in there -- plain raw carrot and cucumber slices in such a miniscule quantity it bordered on being a decoration, you'd think they were saving costs on that, out of all things? No spread or sauce of any kind, good thing the marinated beef was, well, marinated. Then again there was barely 50g of it in total -- 4 or 5 extra-thin finger length slices in a foot long baguette. There was cilantro there too, does that count towards anything, all things considered? The ingredients mentioned were all that was in the baguette. I am sorry, feels like they either aren't even trying, or they themselves aren't appreciative of the well known banh-mi. My experience tells me the former is the case here. Disappointed, not for wasting my money, but just overall. Wish I'd have taken a photo. Restauranting...

This is our regular eat out place 😃. Food is very light and healthy at the same time tasty. What I missed some background Vietnamese music. We really enjoyed the food and overall friendly ambience. Staffs are so well behaved and cooperative . Yeah little bit homely and for sure you will enjoy that. There pho’s are just too good. I have tasted Vietnamese food in many restaurants but yes Gánh Pho & Banh Mi is really great Vietnamese restaurant according to me. Just go for it. Enjoy life...
