Fantastic asian bakery that takes me right back to Japan, everything was fantastic and tasted very close to what’s served in Japan. Only thing I miss is the sweet smell asian bakeries tend to have. And I have to give a + to the girl in the counter who gifted me a free sando with cream and fruit, as we bought a lot.
Negative about this place is they close pretty early 17:00, this makes it difficult to drop by after work.
Tamago sando (Egg salad sandwich) The ube bread had an soft and springy texture, and had a small hint of ube flavour. Japanese egg salad is my absolute favourite filling and tasted exactly like the authentic one. Recommend as one of my favourites.
Ebi tamago sando (shrimp and egg salad sandwich 🥪) Eggsalad tasted very close to authentic, shrimp was ok but breading had became a little soggy.
Hornet with custard, is just an different form of an cinnamon roll with custard. Not the most interesting thing on the menu.
Melon pan (matcha) Fantastic melon pan with matcha cookie and matcha custard. Bread was soft and taste had an good matcha flavour overall, without beeing overpowering. Recommend as one of my favourites.
Matcha cookie 🍪 Beautiful green matcha cookie with an nuttery taste, matcha flavour is present without beeing overpowering.
Red velvet cookie 🍪 Good red velvet flavor with custard in the middle. Ps custard had begun to sin a little into the cooke making it bearly soggy in the middle.
Katsu sando (pork cutlet sandwich) Pork cutlet katsu had became a little soggy, but perfectly reasonable for an premade sandwich. Taste was pretty good with a tangy tonkatsu sauce.
Shokupan (Japanese milk bread) Just like the authentic one, soft and springy milk bread.
Cheese tart Flaky tart with cream cheese filling with a hint of sweetness.
Cheesecake Soft and springy texture with a hint of lemon flavor
Cinnamon roll. Normal cinnamon roll flavor but with a hint of something citrus? Maybe yuzu.
Coconut bun. Bum filled with coconut custard.
Anpan Soft and fluffy sweet bun filled with...
Read moreWow, this brunch spot is genuinely awesome. They do things really well and the overall vibe and quality strongly reminded me of the kind of small, excellent places you find in Japan. I highly recommend checking it out.
I grabbed the Pork Katsu Sando and several of their other buns—and honestly, the quality of their baked goods is insane. I don't think any other Norwegian bakery can touch the texture and flavor they get in their bread. That stuff is the absolute best part of the menu.
My only major disappointment was the Pork Katsu itself. The menu specifically used terms like "frityrstekt svinekotelett" (deep-fried pork chop), which is misleading because what arrived was a thick cutlet that, while tasting much better than a standard Norwegian Schnitzel, was still not a proper Tonkatsu cutlet. It seems the pork was heavily pounded in a way that completely destroyed the natural texture you expect from the dish and added other secret ingredients, and it didn't match the description. Katsu should be lightly tenderized, not pounded until it's unrecognizable.
Still, even with that one issue, the quality here is just fantastic. The super impressive bread and the attention to detail everywhere else definitely make up for it. I had a great time and will...
Read moreA cute little cafe, right across the building where I used to live. Love the simple clean rustic decor. I discovered them by chance via Amoi and have had deliveries more times than I have visited the cafe. We are a huge fan of the cheesecake - just the right amount of sweetness, fluffy like a cloud and oh so delicious!!! Our other favourite is the red velvet cookie - is absolutely scrumptious. Highly recommend. I love the fruit sandwich, so light and fresh- just the right thing after meal when you crave for something sweet yet light. Since the time I visited the physical cafe, my newest obsession is the grilled cheese sandwich! I love the shokupan, grilled to perfect brown with the gooey cheese inside. I can feel how that felt as I write this. 🤤 I will always come...
