Tromsøbadet is absolutely one of my favourite places in the world.
The variety of activities for adults and children is great. There is a large pool (50 meters, 22°C) for exercise and competitive swimming, a health pool for exercise, relaxation or group training, two jacuzzis, a wave pool, a children's pool, a small cold pool (about 8°C), a wonderful outside pool where you can swim out and float beneath the northern lights, saunas, and more.
The staff are friendly and helpful. I recommend booking a personal trainer if you can and want to, especially Kim. He is very professional and attentive to every client's needs and goals.
I could do without the music that's played in the common area, especially around christmas time, but I bring my own and listen with headphones. The opening hours in the summer are also very impractical (closed before 9 am which is the time I usually go,) but I hope they are able to change that someday. It's very annoying to pay for a membership that you are usually very happy with, but can't use in school holidays when they open late.
Tromsøbadet is wheelchair accessible, family friendly and has changing spaces for men, for women, a family changing area (this has lockable single rooms with a shower and bench), and a large changing area close to the health pool.
I added pictures of the wristband that you get as a member, and the view from the swim out pool.
If you want to avoid the crowds I would suggest going before 8 am or after 7 pm, and to avoid the weekends.
It is not allowed to use cameras in the changing areas or in Tromsøbadet itself without getting permission from the staff first. I greatly appreciate that. It makes me feel safe and relaxed to know that pictures are not allowed.
I reckommend Tromsøbadet...
Read moreA really nice place, plenty of opportunities for swimming, relaxing and also climbing. The best is that a part of that is separated for swimming and for fun and relaxation, so that families can enjoy it as well as athletes who want to swim undisturbed by children. There are two toboggans with separated pools, one is really steep down. There are also heated swimming pools, 2 saunas, one in the changing room and another in the swimming area for all, a steam sauna, cold pool, pool like in the cave and outside heated pool with the view. The only minus is the local bistro stand, where they made us wait for an hour for two burgers without any people there, they just looked at us, then when we asked, the answers came and I quote: the kitchen just messed it up (another word was used but I can't use it here because it's derogatory), so they can give us our money back or make burgers, but it will take another 20 minutes. They don't really care even that we had to pay extra for parking and waited there in the empty bistro for more than an hour, not a single real regret, just bluntly expressed. We were especially disappointed with the behavior, yes it can happen that they forget, but if we could see them talking with the receptionist and their friends there, they just look at us and ignore us for a long time, then their pure excuse without really sign of regret, I can't...
Read moreFriendly staff. We booked. 4 hrs tour with transit from Radisson Blue in Tromsø. Everything was on time. The bath itself serves very clean showers and very good pools. There is one whirlpool, one hot pool, one hot pool in a cave style, several saunas (45°C with a lot of moisture, 75°C and a 80°C in the men shower area) and a very good outdoor pool which is reached via an indoor pool. The water is heated and you have a view to a Biathlon track and an amazing view to the distant mountains in the west. In addition, there are two slides and towers (2x1m, 3x3m, 1x5m, 1x7m and 1x10m). There are separate areas for some parcour running on inflatable sections in the pool and one waterball area. There is a toddler pool and for children, too with a wave maker and some climbing walls. The saunas are accompanied with a ice water pool. Lastly, there is a small Café where you can get lunch. Everything is payed via an RFID wristband and you...
