Meerath Famous Restaurant — Restaurant in Muscat

This weekend we ordered from Meerath Famous located in Boushar. It is opposite the Sultan Qaboos sports complex and behind millennium hyper mart. They have an very pro active facebook page and also an instragram handle meerath.famous Contact number is 2450 3633. They are very responsive on whats app too on the number 9594 6500

What i want to mention about them is their varied combo / value meals! Theres 19 choices in mutton, chicken, beef or fish options! All priced on an average of 2 rials! Please have a look at their page to get more details. Absolute value for money and good quantity too! Apart from that they have family bbq platters. And Thursday special Haleem!

For those who love the desi halwa poori breakfast combos, MEERATH serves them exclusively on Friday and Saturday

Sunday - Thursday they are open from 11 30 am - 3 30 pm 7 30 pm - midnight

Weekends though Friday and Saturday 8 00 am - 3 30 pm 7 30 pm - midnight

Ofcourse since the pandemic, there is no option to dine in. But home delivery and take away is spot on! We called Jahanzaib, the manager, 30 mins prior to picking our meals! So when we reached there it was just getting packed and ready for take away!

We ordered the following

smart meal # 2 Fish biryani, salad, raita and a choice of dessert. Huge quantity of rice with 4 pcs of batter fried fish on top. The rice was well cooked but personally i felt it lacked the extra Zing! I found it subtle in taste. A little more spice would be better for me

Smart meal # 6 4 pcs sheek kabab, 2 naans, daal channa, salad, raita, tangy chutney and a dessert. When we arrived there, our sheeks were still getting grilled! This choice was a 5 on 5. Meat so soft, perfectly spiced, delicious chunky kababs! I am sure the other grilled items would be equally good.

Smart meal # 15 Mutton handi with 2 naans. Salad, raita and dessert! Again this gravy was creamy and tasty! Generous amount of mutton boneless pieces in it.

We went for the halva puri breakfast. The food was absolutely delicious, the ambience welcoming and the service was great. We were warmly welcomed by a waiter who promptly showed us the way to the family area. The waiter was extremely attentive and made us feel very comfortable.

We duly recieved the menu and ordered. The waiter was very helpful in giving us information about the menu items.

The food came very quickly, hot and looking scrumptious. The halva poori breakfast consists of channa, puri, achar( pickles), potatoes, halva and kachuri. Everything was well cooked, seasoned and delicious! The puris were warm and soft, the channa had excellent seasoning and the potatoes were done just right!

We really enjoyed the breakfast and it bought back memories of Lahore!

Overall, the service was absolutely outstanding and special praise must go to the waiter who was very attentive and made us feel extremely welcome. In addition the price was extremely competitive for such a wonderful breakfast!

Authentic Pakistani Flavors outside of Pakistan

Traveling all the way from Switzerland, I have to say this was one of the best Pakistani food experiences I’ve had outside of Pakistan! Every dish was bursting with authentic flavor, the Bihari kebab, Malai Boti, and Chapli kebab were perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of spice. The fresh parathas and rogni naan with the Kata Kat were soft, buttery, and the perfect match to the meats.

To finish off, we tried all three desserts, gulab jamun, halwa with desi ghee, and kheer, and each one was absolutely delicious!

The staff and chefs were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and it was such a pleasure to meet Haji Saab, the owner himself, such a humble and polite gentleman.
