Overall, this is a solid hotel with decent amenities and a good location if you have a rental car.
Pros:
We arrived 9 hours before check-in and were offered an early check-in for approx. €20 – a very fair and flexible solution.
Breakfast was the same every day, but of consistently good quality. Fresh omelets were available upon request and there was something for everyone.
The suite was modern and well-furnished with plenty of storage space.
The fitness center was well-equipped, with fresh towels and complimentary water always available.
The pool was large enough and included a shaded children’s area – very nice in the Omani heat.
Free shuttle service to Oman Mall (also just 3 minutes away by car).
Ample free parking in a covered garage.
Very convenient location for guests with a car – even by taxi, everything was quickly reachable.
The suite consisted of two spacious rooms, one bathroom (with toilet), and an additional separate toilet – very practical for families.
There was also a kitchenette with a washing machine and a large fridge.
Major Issues:
We booked a suite for 4 people but received only one bed for 2. A rollaway bed would have incurred additional charges. Fortunately, we had brought an air mattress for the kids – but honestly, if you advertise a suite for 4, you must provide sleeping arrangements for 4. This is a clear no-go.
The pool was closed without prior notice for maintenance on 2 out of 10 days. Guests were simply turned away in the morning with “Try again tomorrow.” While we understand the need for maintenance, clear visible notice in advance would’ve helped us plan our days better. The randomness of access made it feel like roulette – very unprofessional. In the end, we paid for a feature we couldn’t use 20% of the time.
Both of these major issues affected services we paid for, which is frustrating and strongly impacts our willingness to return.
Minor Issues:
The suite was not well cleaned upon arrival: food residue on the table, bathroom and toilet not thoroughly cleaned, and we had to clean the fridge ourselves. This might have been due to the early check-in, but it’s still unacceptable.
Daily housekeeping was mediocre – we’d rate it 7/10. Bathrooms weren’t cleaned properly, and towels were only replenished for two people, although we booked for four.
The hotel is located at a highway exit. There are no walkways, and nothing is within walking distance. To be fair, Muscat overall isn’t very pedestrian-friendly, but staying here without a rental car or using taxis daily would be difficult.
No hairdryer in the room – though it was promptly delivered upon request. Still, a hairdryer should be standard without having to ask.
Two TVs, but only one remote control worked.
Complimentary water was limited to 0.5L per person/day – we’ve experienced more generous provisions elsewhere.
On two days when the pool was open, cleaning staff were scrubbing tiles during opening hours – a bit disruptive to the experience.
Overall service felt distant. Staff rarely greeted us, and we didn’t feel particularly welcomed. One bright exception: Aamir at the breakfast buffet. He was always kind, attentive, smiling, and ensured we had a pleasant breakfast every morning. A true asset to the hotel!
Conclusion:
