Everything I ate in Singapore day 1😋 1️⃣McDonald’s🍟 *it may have been an off day, but the batter was not good! I would try it again! It was the skin that was throwing me off but the chicken meat was juicy [accepts visa] 2️⃣Satay By The Bay🍢🍢 *overly sweet for me but their chicken wing was 9/10!! and this place is super cheap for what you get! [cash only] 3️⃣Lavo🍹 *rooftop bar for the sunset 4️⃣Jumbo Seafood *they are known for their crab but we decided to get crab at another spot, so we ended up ordering noodles, veggies, and fish that were amazing! you have to get their kang kong with sambal veggie dish!!! 9/10 [accepts visa] ☎️recommend making reservations 5️⃣Hotel Bar *to end the night😜 • • • • • #whatieatinaday #whatieatinadaysingapore #singaporeeats #singapore #singaporerestaurant #singaporefood #singaporefoodie #singaporetravel #singaporetrip #exploresingapore #gardensbythebaysingapore #wheretoeatinsingapore #singaporeeats🇸🇬

Kitty and I were cycling with a group of friends to the Singapore Night Festival when we decided to stop by Gardens by the Bay for a sugarcane drink. We ended up at Satay by the Bay food court, and a few of us were hungry enough to grab a quick bite. We ordered some satay from Geylang Serai Satay, which the stall owner boasted was the number one in Singapore and has another location in Lao Pa Sat. We ordered a mixed plate of chicken and beef satay. There was no table service, so we collected our order using a beeper. While the satay itself was decent, Kitty and I were a little disappointed with the kutupat. It wasn't the traditional kutupat wrapped in leaves that we're used to – it was wrapped in paper. It didn't have the same taste and texture we'd expect from a traditional kutupat. Although the satay was good, it was a bit on the drier side. Another issue was the pathetic quantity of the onions and cucumbers served with the satay, especially considering the price we were paying. The pricing at Geylang Serai Satay was also a little steeper than other satay places we've been to in Singapore. It seems like the location at Satay by the Bay is a bit more geared towards tourists and the prices reflect that. Overall, the satay was accetable, but the kutupat was a bit of a letdown. Another issue that contributed to our 4-star rating was the pathetic quantity of the onions and cucumbers served with the satay, especially considering the price we were paying. We understand the modern shift towards using paper for hygiene reasons, but we miss the traditional taste and texture that the leaves provide. We'd be happy to go back for the satay, but we'd probably skip the kutupat next time.

This is by far the biggest tourist trap experience I have had for the past 2 months in Singapore. Mango sticky rice - S$10 Freshly squeezed juice was actually priced at the acceptable price of S$3.5. However, once you asked them to omit ice cubes I was told that this costs 1/3 more. When I asked NOT to fill up the cup with juice (hence no extra juice without extra payment, but also no ice as this is diluting the otherwise nice taste of freshly squeezed juice) I was told - impossible. What an upsell technique/scam. Since I have Singaporean friends I figured out there is no consumer rights agency and 0 protection for the customers in Singapore. Ever heard of a place which cannot avoid adding ice unless you pay extra? Even if you suggest letting go of a chunk of the freshly squeezed juice so the seller won’t feel as taken advantage of. What a nonsense. And no agency or organization to complain to. Simply avoid buying juice from here - and anywhere else in Singapore. In case you like ice - I hope you will like diluted freshly squeezed juice. P.S. the cashier was about to say a bad word to me (look through the pictures to see the face), however a colleague of his (from the Philippines) posed as a manager of the place (note, NO managers on the floor in this food court) and tried to apologize and try to make the things sound right (which they don’t as customer has no rights at this court). Please avoid this food court. The prices of the food items sounded exaggerated and found out from other employees of the Gardens by the Bay that none of them ever eats there due to bad quality and exaggerated prices.

City Satay is one out a few satay spots here in satay by the bay. I took a while to research which one i should get but just ended up taking the chance with this one as it was right in front of me.

as I go up to order for myself, i'm greeted with a dire attitude. usually i don't really care about service if they're known for really good food but she was blunt and unwelcoming, which made me want to cancel my order but i wanted to see if it was good.

satay by the bay and Lau Pa Sat are definitely just tourist traps and wouldn't recommend it. just google your local food/hawker centre and go there. food is way better and cheaper, plus you're supporting the local business that don't get that much clout.

as for the food, i ordered 10p which you're only allowed to choose 2 types of meat in that 10, it's not stated but she will correct you. I got the chicken and mutton plus 2 rices on the side. the meats are flavourful, small but tender, the satay sauce is underwhelming and the rice is cold and almost kinda crumbly and dry. they precooked a lot of their skewers and heated them up upon ordering, which is disappointing. literally just watched the server cough disgustingly multiple times into her hands too.

if you're in the area, sure, eat here but if you're not, don't bother going out of your way to get here. there are so many other hawkers that outshine this place.

satay by the bay is not a bad place, it's just not that great for how many good reviews it has. you'll get better food, service and...
