Côte Rôtie, Karachi
Côte Rôtie is a modern French bistro located within the Alliance Française in Karachi's Clifton area. Known for its blend of French classics and global favorites, the restaurant offers a chic yet cozy dining experience.
Ambiance & Service
The interior is elegantly designed, featuring minimalist décor that exudes a Parisian vibe. Both indoor and outdoor seating options are available, though the outdoor area lacks shading, which might be less inviting during sunny days. The staff is courteous and attentive, with the owner, Chef Faheem Jaffar, often engaging with patrons—a personal touch that enhances the dining experience.
Culinary Offerings
The menu, though concise, covers a range of starters, salads, tartines (open-faced sandwiches), mains, and desserts. A highlight is the selection of artisanal breads, freshly baked on-site, which serve as a delightful precursor to the meal. The Boursin Stuffed Mushrooms and Gougère (cheese puffs) are notable starters, offering a balance of flavor and texture.
For mains, the Sliced Roast Fillet of Beef with Morel Sauce stands out, cooked to a perfect medium-rare and complemented by a rich, earthy morel sauce. The Wild Mushroom Linguine is another favorite, with fresh mushrooms harmonizing with the truffle-infused pasta.
Desserts & Beverages
Dessert offerings include a rich Chocolate Tart and a Lemon Cheesecake, both providing a sweet conclusion to the meal. Beverage options range from freshly squeezed juices to a variety of coffees and teas, catering to diverse preferences.
Pricing
While the quality of food and service is commendable, some patrons feel that certain dishes are priced on the higher side. For instance, the French Cheese Platter is priced at PKR 4,200, and the Sliced Roast Fillet of Beef with Morel Sauce at PKR 3,800. Additionally, a 10% service charge applies to groups of four or more.
Overall Experience
Côte Rôtie offers a refined dining experience, blending quality ingredients with attentive service in a stylish setting. It's an excellent choice for those seeking French-inspired cuisine in Karachi, though potential diners should be prepared for premium pricing.

Read moreI went for a siblings dinner last night at the recommendation of my younger brother. The restaurant didn’t leave a lasting impression on me from my first visit 8 years ago, since I’d completely forgotten I’d ever even been here until my sister reminded me.
8 year later, this was a much better experience. Some wins: good service, lovely atmosphere and not all great dishes but some very good ones.
We started with the artisanal bread basket, artichoke dip, watermelon halloumi salad and prawn tacos. Each item was great. Appreciated that the prawn tacos were their version of a Karachi twist. Our main course was a bit of a hit and miss. There were loads of pasta options which was great, as it’s always a go to food, but that’s not very French. Having said that we ordered 2 pastas, one lobster which was excellent, and one mushroom which was a miss, the sauce didn’t have too much of a mushroom truffle kick to it and was just creamy. We also had sole fish, which was nice and the chicken peppercorn a very pleasant surprise on how nice it was. For dessert, the Eton mess - British dessert was lovely, NY cheesecake - American dessert - good not exceptional, chocolate torte - German - very nice, and finally crème brûlée- French - underwhelming.
I’ve still given a 4 star because the food was all good. But for a French restaurant it didn’t have many French items to offer. And while this Pakistani market may not be ready for full on French food, I think there are definetly Fusion opportunities. It’ll be great to see some classics like eclairs and macrons or Mille feuille, soufflé, crepes, profiteroles brought into the...
Read moreTalking about the food and the quality, it was very nice. We ordered bread basket and tacos for starters and the tacos were amazing and juicy. For mains, we ordered a pizza, mustard chicken and a pasta and they all tasted good. However, the manager and waiters should show respect to the customers. Right after we were done with food and ordered no desserts, we were asked to leave because you aren't a celebrity apparently or don't bring liquor to the store. Apparently they show they're the best and charge arm and leg for such a mediocre quantity of food but do look up at the ceiling to see the cheapness of the restaurant design, totally rip off. Don't forget to pay an extra 10% as service charge as waiters serving you at a restaurant being a part of the service is too mainstream plus the table size that is good for two will be given to a group of 4 people and all the food will not be served at once as it's just not possible for them because the table was tooo small lol. I've eaten great meals around the world but this status war in this country is just sad especially when low life managers and waiters judge the customers who are making up their salaries (no offence to any group or designation, specifically pointed towards the...
