Ah, those were the days! China Town has lost its touch over the years. I was a fond customer of China Town in Clifton Karachi for many years. As Flu is in the air and my family is also affected, I decided to have a take-out for Chicken Corn Soup.

My mother and wife had the soup and they complained that there was too much salt and MSG (Monosodium glutamate) in it, but I said it can't be and I tasted it myself. To my utter shock, I was in a state where I was wondering whether to throw up or swallow it. I just gulped the first bite down my throat in an uncontrolled paroxysm. I asked my wife to add water and Corn Flour to make it edible.

The point to ponder here is that what happened to the fine standards of China Town? First I checked if there was any complaint section at China Town's page but when I couldn't find that, I decided to write this review instead I am literally shocked to the hilt that I decided to write this review.

I presume that the owners take notice of this review and do something about it. The irony is that; this is their prime item which had been selling like wild fire over the years.

I have nothing...

China Town has an amazing ambience, they nailed it with the art and design. Environment is sanitary. Food quality is decent. The variations of items are fascinating.

The prices of China Town are okay. The value you receive for the food they offer is simply not fulfilling. They lack in quality sometimes too, mainly for the soup. They charge you extra money for paying in card. They don't season their chow mein, I don't know why. It always tasted really bland. Their Chop Suey is weird. It's just a hard brick of dough with chicken?? That is not Original Chop Suey.

Overall, it's a decent place to dine in. The chinese variations can be weird but a lot of their items such as the Masala Rice IS SUPERB, that is one of my favorite dishes...

Yesterday, I researched online and decided to go to China town for my birthday. They have the MOST sucky service , aweful food in tiny servings and was quite expensive, not worth food or service. Once the food was put on table, no one ever came to ask if everything was ok or ask if anything else was needed. We were keft alone to find a waiter and call him for help.I called manager and he was as dumb as rest of his staff. I regret choosing and burning my money at China town.. Please save the trouble of driving and wasting yiur money to chose this place. Instead, choose anywhere else but here. Unless you have not had any better tasting food in a restaurant with trained servers, than this joint and their sucky...

Excellent Family restaurant! Been there million times since I was child, still the restaurant carry the very same ambiance, quality of food and its taste. Its commendable! Kudos. I still remember the same person opening up the main door and warmly welcoming customers, felt Retro. Friendly staff. Ordered piping hot Thai soup with shrimp crackers as startup, loved the taste. Main course include Chicken Manchurian, Drum Sticks, Squirrel Fish, egg fried rice. No comparison, all the cuisines were flavoursome. Although its Hakka Chinese or comfort food I still love their food making traditions and taste of food they’re holding since few decades. This is a reason for a extra star. Definitely YES anytime, High recommendations.

China Town is one of the oldest Chinese restaurants in Karachi that was always known for a better Chinese taste. Most Chinese restaurants in Pakistan have a Pakistani taste Chinese food. Perhaps Golden Dragon in Islamabad and to an extent, China Town in Karachi and Kim Mun in Islamabad are amongst those few Chinese restaurants that still have a "Chinese" flavour to their dishes. China Town has a huge sitting capacity. Ground floor is ok but basement has bit of a suffocating environment, specially when more people are eating. Quantity of serving is quite good. Overall, we enjoyed our food in China Town and will go there again.

We have been going to this restaurant for many years. This time we went after a long time and it was not the same. We got the lunch deal that came with a soup and small servings of variety of dishes. The hot and sour and the chicken corn soup were so unsatisfactory that I dont have words. We have probably had better from thelas or carts. Then the lunch plates came. The beef looked like leftover scrap meat used and the fish was old, soggy, smelly. The chicken was okay. This experience was unlike my previous ones. Very disappointing. Although I must add the service was good. The staff are nice and welltrained.
