I have been a regular patron of this restaurant but this time I went there to try their dinner buffet which is available only on Tuesdays. I had made reservation ahead and arrived on time. When I went to the reception, two staff members were present there but were too busy talking to each other that they didn't even realize that their customers were waiting to be seated. I wasn't greeted upon arrival by the staff so felt unwelcome. Only the doorman was courteous enough to greet and smile at us. When the two staff members finished their discussion, they finally turned their attention to us and we were seated after waiting for about ten minutes. We felt being dumped there by the host because no one came to check on us for a very long time. We kept on waiting till a server came to ask about our drinks and it was him who finally sent the waiter to our table. He asked if we're ordering from the menu or taking the buffet. The buffet wasn't fully ready by the start time. It was obvious that the buffet set-up was a makeshift arrangement since the desserts were placed in another hall adjacent to the room where they had placed the main dishes. The passage to the buffet was so narrow that it was difficult to walk carrying your food on the plate while also trying not to run into staff waiting on other nearby tables. Luckily, the long table that was taking up most of the space there was empty; else I can't imagine how to walk between the crowded tables with other customers sitting on pulled out chairs. At times, I had to hold myself back because the waiters were either carrying large food trays or tending to diners requests. The food, however, was excellent and fresh. I enjoyed all items including Kung Pao chicken, sizzling garlic prawns, fish with mint sauce, dynamite prawns, egg fried rice, vegetable chowmein, crispy beef, spring rolls, Schezwan chicken, both soups (hot & sour and chicken corn soup), different salads, and excellent desserts. During the entire time while we were having our meal, no one came to check on us if we need anything else. We wanted to order assorted drinks but no one was there to ask and take our order. Even after we were done with our dinner, the waiter didn't show up with the bill. It was quite frustrating. Finally, I asked the same water carrying server to send our waiter to our table with the bill. He lazily showed up after waiting for another ten minutes but disappeared once again. We kept on waiting till he came back but left after putting our bill on the table. More waiting started but he was nowhere to be found. After waiting for a very long time, he came and took my card for payment. The agonizing wait continued till he finally brought the payment slip and card back, put that on our table and vanished once again. He didn't even say a single word of thanks to us. We had enough of frustrating wait so we got up and left. There were several staff members but none paid attention to us and not a single person said "thanks for coming" or "please come back again". We paid good amount of money at the restaurant but no one from the staff or management had the decency, courtesy, or professionalism to interact with us at any time. From the entry to the exit, we felt unwelcome throughout with zero greetings or thanks. Only the doorman was courteous enough to not only greet us upon arrival but also smiled and opened the door for us when we were leaving and also assisted us in retrieving our car from the valet. That guy was a true gentleman.

I have mixed feelings about Cocochan. The Dimsum was excellent with a perfect balance of spices, and the Egg Fried Rice was also very good. The California Sushi was decent, though it lacked authentic flavor. The Pad Thai was well-prepared and nicely balanced, but the Beijing (Peking) Chicken was a complete disappointment. Having tried this dish in more than 10 countries, including China, I can confidently say this version was unlike any I’ve ever had—and unfortunately, it was awful. Service was another drawback. We were dining with a child, and since kids rarely finish full portions, we asked about ordering a smaller one. However, the server insisted on a full meal, which felt unprofessional and left a poor impression. Guests should never feel pressured to order more than they want. Overall, the restaurant offers a mix of hits and misses—some dishes shine, others fall flat. While the food could merit 4 stars, the service experience reduces it to 3.

We visited Cocochan at Tipu Sultan with a reservation. The evening didn’t start off great — the initial experience felt a bit disjointed. But credit to the team: the manager, Adnan, and our waiter really stepped up and made a genuine effort to improve things. Their attentiveness and hospitality helped turn the experience around. We ordered quite a bit — beef, chicken, prawns, chowmein, and several drinks. The food was fine. Nothing particularly memorable, but overall decent in taste and presentation. One small issue — the baby chair provided initially had a broken strap, which could’ve been a safety risk. Thankfully, the waiter immediately replaced it, but it’s something the management should definitely address. The ambiance is nice, the service picked up well, and with a few operational improvements, the place has potential. A decent spot for a casual evening out, but not a standout.

We eat dinner last night and it’s busy and long queue we waited around 20 minutes to have are table. The receptionist are accommodating and when we asked if we are the next in line then he told okay come inside. So then we order our foods had appetizers, main course menu and drinks. Our food came not too late We order Clear Vegetable Prawn Soup and this is a MUST so flavorful 11/10 Spring rolls with vegetables inside is flavorful too and the presentation is perfect 8/10 Tempura Prawns it’s tasty and fresh BUT the coating is too much so crunchy 7/10 Sliced Beef in Chili Oil meat is tender BUT the sauce is too salty 6/10 ( we complained but nothing happen he never come back!) Pad Thai Noodles with Prawns first they serve with chicken so I told the waiter my order is prawns so he change it again and waited for another more minutes The chicken Pad Thai presentation was very nice and with peanut and all the garnish BUT when they replaced it with prawns it’s overcooked! the presentation was not too good you can compared in the pictures below and the taste is not authentic its not flavorful 5/10 I just eat too little and packed to give it to someone so it will not be a waste. For the drinks we order mint sparked mint lemonade and Falsa juice it’s good 8/10 Service crew are not mindful they are not attending to your needs. The table beside us was too upset because they order before us but food came to late 40-50...

Recently visited the much hyped CocoChan Pan Asian Restaurant @ Tipu Sultan. The interior is divided in two portions; the comfy yet formal arrangement for larger groups, and the casual, table and chair arrangement, for small groups. The former has a dark feel to it, while the latter is bright and cozy.

1- Assorted Nigiri Platter – 7 pieces of sushi; prawn, salmon, crab, tuna. 1160/-

2- Norwegian Salmon Sashimi – maybe an acquired taste, but it was not our cup of tea. 760/-

3- Chicken in sizzling Garlic Sauce – a mild flavored sauce with tender pieces of chicken. Good, but the other dishes easily overpowered this one. 795/-

4- A Red Curry Chicken – had a similar taste to butter chicken (to better explain in desi terms :P), but the chilies in the curry added the much needed punch. 895/-

5- Crispy Fish in Sweet and Sour Sauce – easily the favorite, the crispy fish, the sauce everything was hands down the best. 920/-

All the curries were served with rice; jasmine or egg fried rice, which was served unlimited times, on the house.

6- Dynamite Prawns – served differently from the conventional style, they too were amazing. The batter, the sauce, everything were absolutely the best. 710/-

The food served was a delight, and the staff was very friendly which turned this into an even better experience. A special mention is necessary. This place is highly...
