Title: A Disastrous Experience at Mailma - Avoid at All Costs!

Rating: 1/5 (and that's being generous)

We made the grave mistake of choosing Mailma for our large group dinner, and it was an unmitigated disaster! With 25 friends and colleagues, we were excited for a memorable evening, but what we got was a distasteful experience that left a sour taste in our mouths - literally!

The highlight (or lowlight) of the evening was the cold BBQ platters - all three of them! We ordered a variety of cuisines, but the BBQ was the main attraction, and it was a travesty. The meat was stone-cold, and the flavors were as dull as the service.

When we brought this to the attention of the waiters and floor manager, instead of apologizing and rectifying the situation, they employed delaying tactics that would put a snail to shame. It was as if they were hoping we'd just give up and leave, which, trust me, we wanted to!

The service was abysmal, the food was subpar, and the management was clueless. Our gathering, meant to be a joyous celebration, turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience. Mailma, you failed us miserably!

Unless you enjoy disappointment and frustration, stay far, far away from Maylma. There are far better options out there, and I implore you to explore them. We won't be returning, and we'll make sure to spread the word about this...

I had a disappointing experience at Malima. The food was average and overpriced. The real issue began when I was mistakenly charged 177K instead of 17K. I was informed that the charge would be canceled and credited back to my account within 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, we were then told to wait an hour and to pay the original bill of 17K. After paying the 17K bill, I was suddenly told the refund would be processed in the morning because the HR team was unavailable.

The next morning, I went back to Malima to resolve the issue. The operations guy was unhelpful and kept repeating that it wasn't their fault. When I met with the GM of the restaurant, his attitude was very unprofessional. Despite the significant overcharge, he told me he couldn't return the money and mentioned that "these small things keep happening," showing a clear lack of understanding of the impact of a 177K charge on a Pakistani citizen. The GM's behavior suggested a lack of experience in managing a restaurant and poor customer service, acting as if he was doing a favor to Karachi by running a mid-quality restaurant with flashy lights.

In conclusion, I never got the money back from Malima and had to file a complaint with my bank, eventually getting the refund...

I’ve visited Mailma multiple times, and every time they claim their card payment system is down, forcing customers to pay in cash or through bank transfers to personal accounts instead of business accounts. While this could be a one-time issue, it happens consistently. They also fail to provide proper receipts after payment—only prepaid receipts are issued. For those who know, paying via card incurs a lower WHT rate (8%) compared to cash or bank transfers (15%). By avoiding card payments, they can hide sales transactions from authorities. Additionally, their receipts lack SRB or FBR invoice numbers, suggesting potential tax fraud. They seem to underreport sales and pocket the taxes customers pay. I encourage everyone to demand proper invoices and insist on paying via card to ensure the transactions are reported. I’ve also lodged complaints with FBR and SRB about this malpractice. It’s important to hold businesses accountable. In addition to the payment issues, Mailma’s service leaves much to be desired. The waiters are not attentive—you often have to wait to call them over, and no one checks in to ask if the food or service is satisfactory. This lack of basic customer care makes the overall dining experience disappointing.

I visited Mailma restaurant with a group of 10 friends, and honestly, aside from the ambiance, everything else fell far below expectations. In Karachi, you’d normally find great food even at small dhabas, but here the taste was a huge letdown. The Paneer Reshmi Handi tasted more like raw flour than anything else, Malai Boti was completely bland, and the Karahi was just average at best. The only dish we liked was the mutton ribs — and that experience was spoiled when we found a fly in the yakhni rice. We asked for the mutton to be removed from the bill, but we were told it would be deducted from the waiter’s paycheck. Instead, they offered us a 10% discount — a poor way to make up for such a big oversight. To make matters worse, when we went to pay, we were told there was no card machine. It seemed strange — a restaurant this big without a POS? And just when we thought we’d been through enough, the waiter was still expecting a tip. Tip for what exactly? Overall, a very disappointing experience and a waste of money. I won’t be returning, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it.
