The place offers limited menu options, mainly meat / poultry based dishes. So if you are looking for vegetarian dishes, you are out of luck.
If you are looking for a sophisticated place, with air conditioners, cutlery, table clothes, etc.; then again you are out of luck. There are tables & chairs, but most seating is on charpoys, and/or floor seating on raised platforms.
If you are looking for quick service, with MacDonald's like speed, then again you are out of luck. They cook to order and it takes time.
Now, why should you go to a place with all these shortcomings?
a) Access: Lots of parking area, and easy access via ring road.
b) Convenience: Lots of empty seating available (we went for dinner after iftar in Ramazan). Your choice of tables/chairs, charpoys, and raised platforms.
c) Staff, which under promises and over delivers. On calling for a reservation, was told that we should order ahead as cooking does take time (60 minutes or so). However, if we wanted to stay on while our food was cooked we were perfectly welcome. On arrival, the wait staff took our order and promised to be as quick as possible. They were as good as their word, and served the food quickly. d) Value for money: The bill was on slightly on higher side but still reasonable, especially for meat/mutton based cuisine and everyone ate their fill.
e) The food was served quickly and hot of the grill. In Desi cuisine, roti is the major issue. Cold roti is like rubber, they served hot rotis on a need basis.
f) Taste: The guests included people, who avoided salt and others who didn't want spicy food. In 3 dishes, the restaurant managed to keep everyone happy. The Chapli Kebabs are among the better ones in Lahore, the Rosh was good, and karahi...
Read moreAn unexpectedly big eatery set up, from the entrance on the main road you cannot guess what lies inside. This is my first visit to the place, I never expected it to be so massive, Even the car park is very spacious. I reached for early dinner at 7 PM, got an easy parking place however on my return I found all the parking was full. Valet Parking is available. Just before the entrance of the restaurant there is a Dry Fruit selling point selling all sorts of dry fruits but at a bit higher price. The restaurant itself is quite big, having both inside and outside seating. There is a big indoor glass hall for seating and smaller rooms with glass walls for individual group private sittings, however these smaller rooms only have floor sitting arrangements in traditional Parkton style. No such small room has dinning table with chairs. In the outside sitting central courtyard there is both Dinning table with chair sitting and ground sitting and charpoy sitting. MUST book your table/place before visiting, this is a very busy restaurant. They keep half cooked food to reduce the time of service but they have the option that you can select the raw meat yourself for cooking, in this option it takes about 1 hour serving time. I went with family and friends, one of my friends went early to select raw meat for cooking. Food itself was great and unmatched. We ordered Kabuli Pulao, Beef Chapal Kabab, Mutton chops, mutton Shinwari Karhai, patti tika with there authentic bread. Cooking standard and the taste of food was beyond my expectations. Service was good. In the end, before the exit, there is a pan shop. We took "Metha Pan" , it was great. I strongly recommend all food lovers to visit the...
Read moreMy visit to Ghani Shinwari DHA Lahore for our annual get-together with classmates left a savory impression that's worth sharing. Here's my take on this renowned establishment:
Parking: The first thing that caught my attention was the ample parking space available, which was not only convenient but also free of cost. For those who prefer a touch of luxury, the valet parking option adds a cherry on top.
Food: Ghani Shinwari didn't disappoint in delivering the authentic taste of Shinwari cuisine. From the moment I took my first bite, I was transported to the flavors of the region. Each dish boasted the distinctive Shinwari taste, making it a delightful culinary journey.
Recommendations: Timing is key: With the popularity of Ghani Shinwari, arriving early ensures a hassle-free experience, especially when it comes to securing a parking spot. Patience is a virtue: While the food is undoubtedly worth the wait, it's essential to be prepared for longer-than-usual wait times, particularly for orders requiring meat from their in-house butcher. The absence of pressure cookers may contribute to this, but the resulting taste makes it all worthwhile. One dish, one delight: With each dish offering a unique flavor profile, it's advisable to focus on one main dish to fully savor its distinct taste without any confusion.
In summary, Ghani Shinwari DHA Lahore offers a genuine taste of Shinwari cuisine coupled with convenient parking options, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts seeking an authentic dining experience. Just remember to plan ahead, exercise patience, and indulge in the flavors of Shinwari delicacies for a memorable...
