Waris Nihari is more than just a Dhaba restaurant, it's a Lahore institution. To even utter the name is to conjure images of bustling bazaars, the tantalizing aroma of spices, and a history steeped in culinary tradition. Navigating the chaotic arteries of Anarkali, Urdu and Pisa Bazaar to reach this legendary establishment is a journey in itself a true test of dedication for any Nihari aficionado. Let's be frank, the ambiance is casual and rustic. Unhygienic seating, a less-than pristine atmosphere and a lack of basic amenities like proper hand washing facilities are undeniable drawbacks. The faint of heart, particularly those overly concerned with spotless surroundings, might want to reconsider. However, to focus solely on the environment is to miss the point entirely. Waris Nihari is about the Nihari, pure and simple. And here, they absolutely excel. The nihari itself is a masterpiece. The gravy, rich and deeply flavored, boasts a symphony of spices that dance on the palate. The tari, that glistening layer of red oil, adds a decadent richness that elevates the dish to another level. The meat, be it shank, leg, or beef, is fall-off-the-bone tender. For the adventurous, the addition of bone marrow and maghaz (goat brain) elevates the experience further, adding a creamy, unctuous depth that is undeniably delicious, albeit a cardiologist's nightmare. My personal preference for a half plate with standard meat is a wise choice for a satisfying yet slightly less indulgent experience. The suggestion of adding desi ghee tarka frying is pure genius, a double dose of indulgence that transforms the Nihari into a truly memorable feast. The accompanying salad, a simple mix of ginger, green chili and coriander, is a classic complement to the rich Nihari. However, I heed the warning, hygiene standards here are questionable, so proceed with caution. A glass bottle of soda is the perfect accompaniment, completing the old school experience. The khameeri roti is the unsung hero of this culinary adventure. Fresh from the tandoor, its slightly tangy flavor and chewy texture are the ideal vessel for soaking up every last drop of that delectable gravy. It's a match made in food heaven. Waris Nihari isn't for everyone. It's a gritty, authentic experience that prioritizes flavor above all else. The location is a challenge, the atmosphere is rough around the edges, and the hygiene standards are concerning. However, if you're willing to look past these shortcomings, you'll be rewarded with a Nihari that is truly exceptional. The taste is unparalleled, the recipe is a closely guarded secret, and the experience is unforgettable. At PKR 3,000+ for a full plate, it’s a splurge, but one that delivers incredible value for the taste. Taste: 9.5/10 Ambiance: 2/10 Value: 8/10 (considering the quality and quantity) Overall: 7/10 (The taste elevates it despite the poor ambiance. For the adventurous food lover seeking an authentic taste of Lahore, Waris Nihari is a must try. Just be prepared to embrace the chaos and focus on the flavor. This is a culinary pilgrimage, not a fine-dining experience. Go with an open mind, a strong stomach, and a craving for the best Nihari you'll ever taste. Just maybe skip the salad if you're...

Review: I recently visited Waris Nihari in Anarkali, Lahore, and had a fantastic experience. We ordered the Maghz Fry Nihari, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich, and the meat was cooked to perfection. It definitely satisfied my craving for a flavorful and hearty meal.

The service at Waris Nihari was top-notch. The staff was attentive, friendly, and prompt. They ensured that we had everything we needed and made us feel welcome throughout our visit.

The naans served with the Nihari were a highlight. They were piping hot and freshly made, complementing the dish perfectly. The combination of the soft, fluffy naan with the flavorful Nihari was a delight.

The seating arrangement was comfortable, and the air conditioning provided a pleasant environment, especially during the warmer days. It's always a plus to enjoy a meal in a comfortable setting.

In terms of pricing, Waris Nihari offers good value for money. The prices were moderate, considering the quality and taste of the food served.

One thing to note is that the restaurant tends to get quite crowded, which is a testament to its popularity. However, despite the rush, the staff managed the situation well, ensuring that everyone was served efficiently.

Overall, I highly recommend Waris Nihari for its excellent Maghz Fry Nihari, great service, and comfortable dining experience. It's a must-visit place for those who appreciate authentic Lahori cuisine.

Half plate was 1200, sufficient for 2 people and served with chilli, small sliced gingers and lemons . Lemons add sour taste to gravy which is very good. Meat was red and...

I'd recommend for you to go in the earliest of morning timings (depending on season, just before sunrise or a little after) as the nihari is piping hot and cooked to perfection. Furthermore, be sure to wear shoes which aren't white colored and are good enough to walk on a wet street surface as the road in front of the restaurant is always washed. But don't worry as there are no deep puddles or any sort of flooding unless it rained a lot. Parking is easier to find till the markets aren't open in the early morning hours or else it starts getting crowded as it is located in the vicinity of a very busy market. In terms of other recommendations besides nihari, Sheermal is highly recommended and is only available on morning weekends and in the evenings during weekdays, Nulli nihari has the option of maghaz being together or separate as per your choice. You could try both the Nulli and simple niharis to discover what you like as both are pretty good. Also, if the staff members of the restaurant are in a good mood, they can also bring you payas from Nasir next door which are simply amazing!

A disclaimer; despite the financial crunch and with the amazing quality of food being served, waris is a pocket friendly family breakfast option as you'd end up paying much more for more fancier breakfast options and still not be wowed.

Hope this review...

After a lot of chatter about this place I went there to try this out early in the morning at around 8 am. They were fully functional and had multiple "daaigh" running and had another few being cooked as well. The thing I realized about going to the inner city is that the hospitality and the courtesy is spot on, but in certain cases is exceeds expectations. And this place delivers in every aspect, and will not disappoint. I talked to multiple people there but a few names worthy on mentioning is Mohammed Imran and the master himself was Mr. Zulfi who is the senior gentleman in the picture. These guys have been doing this for over 60 years and I applaud their awesome food and hospitality. The beauty of the inner city people of Lahore oozes hospitality and awesomeness. Now for the rating their food, I would say that they are far more better than their competitors. Take ANY nihari place and they'll out do them any day. Yes, you read it right... any nihari place and they'll out do em. I usually do a score out of 10, and they deserve a 9.8 out of 10, and the only reason I am not giving them a 10 is because of their pace to get the food to me. It took a bit of time and that's all... aside from it the BEST NIHARI IN LAHORE!
