Over rated Over Priced Average Quality food with 3rd grade Service . It was total disappointment from beginning to end. During my visit to Pakistan I decided to try this restaurant with my family. We were greeted by door Guard and that is the only positive thing I found here. Nobody was present to assist us in seating. We spent few minutes there and finally one guy in waiter uniform popped up at the reception desk with doctor like paper list and ordered "Who is First". In response "Pakistani style " everyone jumped on him, the last one got seated first. I waited for my turn to speak and as a result obviously seated at last. With family of 4, we were honored with one Menu so we kept moving the menu to each other to make selection. The guy was in a hurry to take the order meanwhile. He took the order like we are submitting a job application in government office. This was our first time and he was of no help but felt like he is annoyed if we ask the detail of a dish. Service: One guy came at the speed of Hurricane and left one water bottle at our table. He did not bother to see we need glasses too. Then glasses and then Raita. We ordered few dishes . Service time: The food was literally thrown at our faces. Dishes were release even they did not touch the surface of table rather they let them land on the table with a noise. Drinks were the last item in the sequence. No forks, No Knives, No spoons. No salt, No pepper, No toothpicks and no napkins I had to request these from a guy in white shirt and black pants probably manager of that row. He awarded us a Nawaz sharif style smile and thrown 4 spoons and 4 forks in one empty plate but nothing else. We used our teeth when a knife was needed to cut a bigger piece of meat. Sajji, Dam Pukht was all wastage of money. Only mutton Karahi was Ok. We were expecting this price due to the location of this restaurant but the service quality was worst than a street dhaba. It was total disappointment for me. I would say give yourself a favor and stay away...
Read moreDera Restaurant is a well-known spot in Lahore for authentic desi food and a traditional Punjabi dining experience. With branches in Faisal Town, Gulberg, and Cavalry Ground, it attracts families and groups looking for hearty meals in a cultural setting. The décor, featuring charpais, rustic lights, and outdoor seating, creates a lively and local ambience.
The menu is extensive, offering BBQ, karahi, handi, sajji, and classic dishes like saag with makai roti. Many customers enjoy the strong, traditional flavors and generous portions, which make it good value for money. The staff are generally polite and cooperative, and the restaurants stay open late, making them convenient for night-time dining.
That said, some areas could be better. During peak hours, service can slow down, and waiting times are common. A few customers also mention inconsistency in food quality, with items like roti or meat sometimes not cooked to perfection. Prices, while acceptable for the ambience, are slightly higher compared to other desi restaurants in the city.
Overall, Dera Restaurant is a solid choice for enjoying Punjabi cuisine in a lively setting. It’s ideal for family gatherings and casual outings, provided you don’t mind occasional delays or minor...
