I had the chicken kimchi gyoza dumplings and they were excellent. Just based on that dish alone, I would say that this place has the best dumplings. Not only was the chicken and kimchi filling plentiful and delicious, but the flour dough shell is of a high quality texture that is hard to find elsewhere. They give you the option of having them cooked pan fried or steamed. Go with the steamed if you prefer soft. Or pan fried if you want an extra chewy texture. Another thing I love about this place is the fried dough named hojaldre. It is a flat piece of fried dough that may look uninteresting but it is actually very chewy and delicious. Note that this version is unlike the Creole version.
On another occasion, I had the flour noodle soup with vegetables. Unlike the gyozas, it was nothing special. The flavor was subdued so I resorted to adding a lot of the seasonings to spice it up. Next time I will try the noodles with meat options which I am sure have more flavor.
The food is characteristic of northern China. More wheat-based items like noodles, buns and meat dishes. Heavy in spices, meats and chili oil. Not a lot of rice like their southern counterparts.
My only complaint is that they openly spray the tables with pungent cleaning spray. They should instead spray directly into the rag instead of onto the table which would avoid a cloud of it going into the air and mixing with the smell of the food. Their service is really...
Read moreI overall liked the restaurant. Decent location, easy to access, with a solid variety of options. The ordering process wasn't ideal (tablet interface)due to a lack of detail within, so you didn't really know what you were getting until you received it. The bathroom did not have soap and was a bit on the dingy side. The service was phenomenal and our server went above and beyond for us. I enjoyed the atmosphere inside of the restaurant, minimalist environment with plastic chairs, nothing wrong with that. My primary point of contention with this location was the price point and quality of the food. I believe it was too expensive for what it was. It wasn't bad by any means, it was just average for above...
Read moreFood is always fantastic. Each time we visit this place, we order small portion of soup (believe it or not it's enough for 2 adults and 2 kids), a portion of dumplings and a kimchi kung Po - all that for $31. Restaurant itself is old and outdated, service average, but what matters the most food is superb. They also give you a complementary tea, and planty of fresh garlic and a bowl of a...
