I recently visited Taipei, a Chinese restaurant, for the first time. The first impression was that of a simple and modest eatery, lightly decorated yet pleasant. To enhance the experience, a recommendation would be to add some nice Chinese background music.
As for the food, it was generally okay. I ordered chicken and sweet corn soup and spring rolls for starters, and stir-fry beef noodles with fried prawn balls for the main course. The soup stood out as the best dish, while the rest of the food was satisfactory, except for the fried prawn balls. The prawn balls were disappointing as they were made from chopped prawn, resulting in a taste dominated by the batter rather than the prawn. Personally, I would prefer paying the same amount for fewer but whole prawns.
Another letdown was the disposable wooden chopsticks provided when I requested chopsticks. In my opinion, proper chopsticks would significantly enhance the dining experience.
The service was good, but I think the billing process could be improved. When I asked for the bill, I received a second number on a separate paper that included the service charge. I believe the service charge should not be forcefully presented. Nevertheless, the service was good and deserved a tip.
Overall, Taipei offers a decent dining experience with room for a few...

I ordered vegan noodles with vegetables and was served a dish with meat in it. As someone who ordered specifically from the vegan menu, this is beyond careless — it’s downright disrespectful. I only realized after I had already started eating, which makes it even worse.
This isn’t just a “small mistake.” For people who can’t eat meat for ethical, religious, or health reasons, this is completely unacceptable. It shows a total lack of care or understanding about what vegan actually means, and frankly, it’s dangerous for anyone with dietary restrictions to trust this restaurant.
If you can’t be bothered to get basic dietary orders right, you shouldn’t advertise vegan options at all. I will never order from here again, and I strongly suggest anyone with dietary requirements avoid this...
