Where do I start. When we walked in, the staff looked us up and down. We were well dressed, but had backpacks (we live in Paraguay but were on a trip to the city) and we obviously weren't the clients they wanted! On leaving and reentering the hotel, I walked past the reception to go to my room and one of the receptionists chased after me asking rudely in Spanish "what do you want?!". I told her I was a guest and received no apology for her rude behaviour. ||Next is the room. The windows offering a "city view" were so dirty I almost couldn't see it. There were sticky rings on the table where someone before me had put a drink down and the cleaner hadn't wiped it up. The duvet covers were stained and discoloured, in desperate need of replacing. ||Now the breakfast. I've been in cheap hostels that did a better breakfast. All they had was coffee (too bad if you like tea), a couple of slices of melon, pineapple and papaya, two types of stale cake and some Brazlian style cheese breads, also stale. The whole place was dank and dreary and the staff kept opening the doors and letting the cold air in while people were eating. At one end of the breakfast room, there was a business meeting going on. The guy giving the talk to the other three people present was shouting so loud that the entire breakfast room could hear him. If you're looking for a hotel with a business centre or conference room, go elsewhere. ||Between the rude staff, poor service and dirty rooms, I won't be going back. ||I also forgot to mention we were over charged. The amount quoted on bookings.com was apparently wrong and they charged us more on arrival.||||I went with a friend to spend the night and use the spa. The spa itself was great and the lady who runs the spa was the one member of staff who treated us nicely. I also appreciated the woman who helped me make coffee in the morning....
Read moreThe pictures on their website have absolutely nothing to do with reality. Absolutely terrible and decrepit place. I cancelled 11 days out of a 14 days stay just not all because I booked a nonrefundable rate for the first three days. Everything is old , worn out and dirty. Stains, dirt and filth galore. The walls have water infiltration marks from the last 40 years. I’m sure this was a nice place when it opened but not spending 1 cent on maintenance in half a century shows. Walls are stained, no stove , no safety box without asking and a dirty fridge. Just unacceptable for anyone from the first world. One of the worst places I’ve seen in Paraguay at still far too expensive rates. Just a sorry excuse for a hotel. Happy I could get out after the three days. The area also was very dirty and neglected, the a/c made literally more noise than an A350 jet engine and only cooled half the room. Staff was helpful and friendly. The pinnacle of awkwardness was the checkout where the receptionist rushed up the staircase to check if you didn’t steal one of their sodas out of the aforementioned disgusting fridge. Well, typical mentality of people that steal from a they think you’re like them. Stay far, far away...
