Very Unsanitary – Disappointing Experience at Andok’s Caticlan

We came here expecting a decent, affordable meal — but what we experienced was extremely disappointing and unsanitary. The place was full of flies — seriously, a disturbing number of them. Flies were all over the walls, tables, and even on the food of some customers. It was hard to eat comfortably because you’re constantly swatting flies away.

We asked the cashier and a clerk what they were doing to manage the issue, and shockingly, they admitted they have no real solution. They just told us that customers fan their food to keep the flies off — as if that’s acceptable. There was no sign of proper pest control or sanitation efforts.

What made it worse was the attitude of the staff. They just smiled casually, as if it was a normal thing. It honestly felt like they already knew people would still buy and eat there despite the flies — and that’s what made it more disappointing. No sense of urgency or care for customer safety.

For a food establishment, cleanliness should be a basic standard, not a luxury. This kind of environment is a real health risk, and it’s irresponsible to keep operating like this without addressing it seriously.

In summary: • Disturbing number of flies (on walls, tables, and food) • No hygiene protocols or pest control • Staff were smiling like nothing was wrong — clearly used to it • No effort to improve cleanliness • Would not recommend — food safety should never be optional

I only know of smaller Andok's franchises that serve limited menus item and roasted chicken. This branch was the first Andok's I have been with a full menu.

The chopseuy is my favorite! The veggies are still crunchy, not overcooked and it's seasoned just right. The pork bbq was tender, full of flavor and juicy. We came for dinner and made sure to get food to-go at 8am before getting on our ferry.

It's always busy any time of day because of the port but staff are enthusiastic. I appreciate the use of environment friendly packaging and utensils. Food is reasonably priced and...

Of most of the Andoks I have been too this one has been the best. Great selection, good service. They have seating in an air condition room or seating in lobby as you come in. Considering the jetty port traffic they keep it very clean and tidy. Luckily now live close to this Andoks so get to go more regularly. To me Andoks chicken is better than Jollibee,...
