Cafe Esquinita is a fine coffee shop. When it was a buffet, it is a fine buffet. The problem with Cafe Esquinita is, it cannot make up it's mind what it is. I visited the restaurant as regularly as I could while it was a buffet and highly recommend it. However, they closed without notice for private events and parties, leaving their customers without a place to eat. Now they decided to stop being a buffet and are losing their business edge in Malaybalay and settling for being a short order restaurant just like everyone else. No business advantage, no real reason to return.
I'm sorry to change my review of Cafe Esquinita, but with so many changes in how they do business and them failing to establish which business niche they want to fill, they really are just like all the other guys.
After figuring out how everything is supposed to work, my visit turned into an excellent meal. I previously visited during coffee hours (8 am - 4 pm) and thoroughly enjoy their coffee. This visit was to check out a fine buffet dinner during dinner hours (5 pm - 8:30 pm). Since I was hungry, I specially enjoyed their menu that changes daily.
