💕 Date for Two: Singaporean Laksa, Beef Wanton Noodle, Xiao Long Bao 💌 Total: P540
Overall: As we have a lot of time while waiting for our doctor’s appointment, we found this little restaurant along E. Rodriguez, a blessing sent from above. We are aware that Mr. Ube has the same owner with Binondo’s Chuan Kee, Eng Bee Tin, and Cafe Mezzanine. Although we haven’t tried this in Binondo, we all know that they have our favorite – Xiao Long Bao!
Beef Wanton Noodle (P210) – a huge bowl of the classic beef wanton noodle, with huge chunks of beef and a very tasty broth base. Need we say more? This is the perfect food for the soul.
Singaporean Laksa (P210) – When we saw Laksa in the menu, we knew this is the other bowl we have to order. The broth is not that thick, but is a good Laksa bowl. We wished there was more toppings and noodles. Nonetheless, a nice Laksa satisfaction.
Xiao Long Bao (P120) – can you guess why we haven’t got the chance to take an individual photo of the Xiao Long Bao? Oh yes, we ate it right away! Haha! So good! Same ol’ Xiao Long Bao from what we got from Chuan Kee at Binondo.
Never have we imagined we can have a taste of Binondo from this place. We love it!
Value for money: Worth it! Price is very reasonable with the serving size and the taste. Very...
Read moreFor your mooncake needs, Eng Bee Tin probably has the most permutations and combinations of size, filling type and egg yolk. It’s kinda pricey if you compare it to the dizzying choices of mooncakes being sold now in supermarkets and Chinese groceries (but of course way cheaper than MX, Wing Wah and those from 5-star hotels). But let’s face it, I am not brave enough to bite into any of those unknown China brand mooncake while EBT is most probably as safe as it goes since they’ve been in business here for decades and has a reputation to withhold. Safe but still generally unhealthy so the best is to enjoy it in moderation— in my case I only eat 1/4 mooncake for the entire year (unless the 1/4 I sliced somehow misses the salted duck egg yolk completely in which case I attack another 1/4 area). This year’s mid-autumn festival...
Read moreFood choices are limited but I guess that's a good thing for this place as everything on the menu looks good. My mom and I went fpr snacks here after a day of lab tests at the hospital across the street. I had the Taiwanese Crispy Meat ball noodle soup (came with free asado siopao) and my mom had beef wonton noodle soup. I liked the beef wonton better, the broth was really tasty, wonton was seasoned perfectly and rhe amount of wrapper was just right, the beef was well marinated and super tender! The Taiwanese crispy meat ball soup broth was bland but I found the crispy meat balls really good. They use hand pulled noodles which made the dishes even lovelier. The place can get really cramped during busy hours. The purple surroundings give character, plus having a selection of EBT pastries at the doorway was...
