Read moreCame here at the beginning of the week so we had the place to ourselves. Staying in the Botique hotel is quite an experience because of the throwback feel. All houses were built to look like the old ones during the Spanish Regime. Everything from the wooden furniture you thought your Lola once had in when you were little, to the sliding windows - ancestral homes style - and even the plethora of mango trees and santan bushes everywhere screamed Blast from the Past.
There was a garden (which needed some tending) and a pool which again, we enjoyably had to ourselves. The restaurant was a bit on the expensive side but offered authentic Filipino dishes with generous servings (I loved the fresh pako salad). Unfortunately nearly all the native San Pablo dishes were not available during our stay. 😕
They also had a free antique museum tour showcasing the owner's collection. Sometimes they would also schedule a film showing of really old movies.
Overall, I loved the place because of its unique offerings which you probably won't find elsewhere. Definitely a hidden gem. It's also just a 2-3 hour short trip...
