Asador Dos Mestizos has finally opened its doors in Tagaytay, much to the anticipation of food enthusiasts. The brainchild of the same owners behind Boracay’s beloved Dos Mestizos, led by Chef Patron Binggoy Remedios, who now calls Tagaytay home with his family. Specializing in Spanish-Filipino heritage cuisine, Asador Dos Mestizos brings to the table the nostalgic flavors of Spanish dishes we all cherish.
Located in Silang, this Spanish restaurant offers a unique focus on Asador, presenting a tantalizing array of specialty Spanish steaks prepared for grilling. Guests can savor these delectable dishes while enjoying live entertainment, creating an unforgettable dining experience.
I’m really impressed. Binggoy is turning 76 this July, and he hasn’t lost his touch with Spanish cuisine. The tapas, Spanish dishes, and sangria were all delicious throughout the night. Many people love the Dos Mestizos brand, and having good food and live music was the perfect way to open with family and friends. I can’t wait to go back to try the grilled steaks and bring the boys to enjoy Binggoy’s food closer to the south, all the way...
Read moreWe were pleasantly surprised with this place! The food was excellent—well-prepared, tasty, and clean. The wait staff seemed a little overwhelmed at times, but service was still smooth and friendly. One of the owners was even present and personally checked on us throughout our meal, which made the experience feel warm and genuine.
The recipes come from the owners’ family, and they make it clear that these are traditional Spanish dishes rather than Filipino-style versions. We appreciated the authenticity. The paella Valenciana was loaded with toppings, much more than what we usually get in Manila. The stuffed squid was an absolute standout—probably the best we’ve ever had. Clams in white wine as delicious (althought arrived late). We’re not big fans of croquetas in general and these didn’t change our minds, but the off-menu lamb caldereta was another pleasant surprise and truly delicious.
Overall, this is a restaurant we would highly recommend. I’m not sure why it isn’t more popular, because it definitely deserves...
Read moreGenuine Spanish cuisine with attention to detail in each dish. The menu has familiar Spanish options, but the flavors and preparation make them feel fresh.
For example, the blue cheese croquetas were a pleasant surprise – instead of the usual chunk of cheese you’d find in most places, they blended the blue cheese and mashed potato so well, the result was a smooth, balanced flavor without the sharpness you might expect from blue cheese.
The salpicao was another highlight, with tender beef lightly seasoned with olive oil and garlic, unlike some places where it’s too salty or garlic-heavy. The lengua was also cooked just right, with a mild sauce that didn’t overpower it. Other standouts included the gambas, calamares and paella – every dish was consistently good, which is rare to find.
The service was great, too. The staff was polite, knew the menu well, and even treated us to some free tapas.
We’d definitely come back to...
