La' Salsa Fil-Mex Cantina — Restaurant in Zamboanga City

Tiny place, big on flavor and servings!

Mexican restaurants are often big hits or big disappointments. Some offer good portions but the taste is a far cry from being Mexican, others taste Mexican but come in tiny servings. La Salsa surprisingly hit the sweet spot.

First of you are greeted with a burst of color upon entering the quaint cantina. While it is small having just a few tables and a small bar, you are overwhelmed with colors from all angles and the lighting just compliments all the colors around, making it look like a mexican fiesta even at night.

We had the La Carnita Taco, Brazillian Angus Beef Fajita and Pasta de Picante. All came in surprisingly huge servings (which I am not used to when in Zamboanga). The beef were all falvorful, tender and plenty. I have not seen a taco with more beef than vegetables. The taco shells were still firm despite being filled with the juicy beef. The pasta was spicy but it's a tolerable spice. A bit rich but still very very good. The fajita was very filling and was a good choice if you want rice, meat and tortilla in a single order.

Another surprise was the quick service. We didn't have to wait long for our food and were completey caught off guard when they served it after just a few minutes.

Without much expectations, La Salsa definitely blew us away with the incredibly flavorful beef dishes that came in big servings. Definitely a must-try...

Can't say it's really good nor bad coz it's already cold (2 out 3 orders) when they served the food. Quality of Service: 🌟🌟🌟- nobody even seem to notice us or maybe they chose to ignore us when we entered. The place we occupied was reserved and yet nobody told us that until we were ready to place our order. One would thought it's a fast food place, not a restaurant. Fajitas chicken and beef both excellent. Pasta Crema with the perfectly cooked juicy shrimps to balance the creaminess, perfect! Beef Buritos with the crispy wrap and the perfectly cooked beans and the savory balanced salty beefy goodness and.... well you get the idea.... I'm a fan! Really, only your picky, hard to please, bestest, forever, friends deserve to know about this secret.
