I just returned from dinner at Bosko, so my impressions are fresh. The truth is that Bosko had been so highly recommended by a local resident that anything short of amazing was likely to be disappointing. Also, I was coming off the disappointment of learning that Monarchia restaurant was no more -- it was the hope of eating in that almost legendary establishment that had got me to spend and extra 24 hours in Przemyśl. All in all, Bosko might well have received a higher rating from me if I had simply walked in off the street. Unfortunately, that isn't what happened. Before going further, I should say that I had my two children with me. Each of them is a finicky eater, though in different ways. My 12 year old son is only happy when eating pizza or kotlety schabowy. My 11 year old daughter is a vegetarian, a sometimes rather stressed-out vegetarian. Bosko has a number of vegetarian options, about which more in a moment. They do not have pizza or kotlety schabowy. In the end my boy settled for the Kids' menu item of chicken and chips. The chips (fries) were outstanding. The chicken was dry and devoid of flavour, as chicken generally is when it is overcooked. My son told me to rate the restaurant a 1 out of 10. My daughter had the falafel burger, which was huge. She eventually gave up trying to take bites out of it and, instead, dismantled it into manageable pieces. On the she found the falafel lacking in flavour. The immense size of the contraption did not compensate. I had the żaberka. They were fine, and only slightly over-cooked. The whisky sauce coating didn't seem to add much. The most positive thing about the evening was the wine -- a Polish red that tasted like Cabernet Franc and was quite well made. I was genuinely impressed -- and it wasn't expensive. For dessert we had the only thing on offer -- apfelstrudel. This too was ok, but disappointing. The strudel dough was neither crisp nor flakey. As my daughter put it, it seemed like strudel filling (with too many raisins in it) had been wrapped in a pancake. Service was young and inexperienced, and seemed too often to be out of sight when we wanted her attention. Too often we asked about something on the meno only to be told that it was unavailable. That must have been dispiriting for her, as it was for us. So, in sum, 4 out of 5 is actually a better score than our experience...
Read moreIf you like meat with a salmon flavor, this is the best choice for you.
After ordering a local steak made of very good meat, I tried to enjoy the taste of the tenderloin, tasting a piece away from the center of the wooden plate, I could understand that this steak and this place deserve attention. However, closer to the center of the plate, the meat tasted like fish. When I asked the waitress she told me that the fish is also served on wooden plates(!). To my surprise, she reacted politely, but said that the complaint would not be accepted, as she said the fish could not go next to the meat and it was impossible (although the plates may be the same). I ordered another steak and asked for it to be brought on a clean plate. The second steak was very tasty and without the taste of fish, and I was able to enjoy the atmosphere of this place. And so: atmosphere 5 Waiters' level of English is 3 The taste of fish on the steak is 5 out of 5.
I paid 70 USD for two steaks (!)so as not to spoil my mood. I will never recommend this place to anyone. People should accept...
Read moreAwful service. I was given duck instead of chicken and it could still walk, I mean the blood was flowing onto the plate. I asked the waiter if it could be cooked more and she came back to say the chef refused to cook it any more as this is how you eat it. Unbelievable.
To respond to Bosko's reply below: your menus are in Polish only, so when I asked the waiter to translate a couple of dishes to me, she translated your duck as chicken. Also I'd like to add that this was after I was told that the beef I ordered 30 minutes earlier was not available.
I would have eaten the duck, I really didn't mind but it had blood flowing from it and then being told by the chef that that's how you eat it was a step to far. I don't need to be told how I want to...
