I had lunch in this restaurant on 08.15.2020. The only thing I liked was the decor. The food was mediocre, with very little flavor and the "esparregado" tasted like baking soda (tasted very bad). But, worse than that, it was the lack of hygiene that I noticed: the various desserts were spread out on a wide uncovered tray which strolled from table to table, so that customers could choose what they wanted - customers without a mask, who spoke to employees and on top of all the desserts (which were a mere 5 centimeters from the customers), not only to choose what they wanted, but also to comment at length on how the main dish was. There is no way to prevent droplets of saliva from falling on the dessert tray. What if any of the customers got infected with something? What if it's covid-19? Where are the security measures to prevent this? The desserts could be covered with glass or film, but the restaurant did not have that concern... Very...

Came in with no reservation. No problem, we were told. Ordered our food and wine. Everything fine. The grilled octopus was great even. However, the waitress started taking away the plates while we were still chewing on the side dishes. We were so taken aback by this, that we didn’t think to stop her. Came back with the desert plate asking us in the most condescending way: “dessert?” We felt she wanted to get rid of us immediately.

Well, we would have loved to have some dessert, but we didn’t really feel welcome anymore. So no.

Mind you, other people at other tables were still sitting there with full plates.

Went to pay the cheque with a bitter taste. At least her colleagues apologized. But that’s that.

I don’t believe this will result in any repercussions considering this treatment has happened to other customers in...

Abusive treatment because of our speaking English. Went to this restaurant with my wife on the advice of Trip advisor reviewers. Our dining experience was constantly interrupted by a man who was on very friendly terms with the waiters. He would stop them as they tried to deliver meals. The man involved seems to be very friendly with the staff so may be an owner or is some way connected. This man later accosted my wife verbally by shouting "This is Portugal and in Portugal you speak Portuguese Not English." My wife retorted that that was rude and at this point he proceeded to mock her in Portuguese to the waiting staff. What amazed us is that the restaurant staff just simply allowed this to happen and did not come to our rescue. I would suggest you STAY AWAY from this restaurant if you are not a...

Very nice place! Nice service. We had a starter platter - very delicious 😋 For main course we did a mistake, we ordered two separate dishes while we should have shared a one dish as portions are really big. We had codfish in special bread/egg souse $ pork with apples. Pork was so delicious that me, who hates pork, actually couldn’t stop stealing from my partner’s plate :D fish unfortunate was not of my liking. They have a great variety of desert and explain it super nicely. We tried a local cake made out of almonds - it was ok. Nothing overwhelming. Great experience overall. I would def comeback.

Lovely restaurant with a rich local history, worth checking out before going or asking the staff to tell you about it. The food is great, without much fuzz to it - simple, homemade, well-served. At the end, they bring you a platter of all the local sweet delicacies and you’ll have a hard time choosing just one. The house decor is beautiful and very cozy. Gotta go back for the Sunday lamb. On note: if you have mobility issues (like someone in our party did) make sure to ask to be seated in the main room and remember that there’s quite a few stairs to the WC.

Nice restaurant a little hidden in a small street directly across the square on opposite of the monastery. We had a sectional of appetizers with a section of bread as starter with a glass of red and rosé house wine. As main course the beef of the house and the octopus stew with sweet potato. Both were tasty, although the beef was not medium as requested and a bit too salty. They have a nice selection of Portuguese desserts to choice from. Recommendable. Good service. With coffee and a second glass of house wine we ended up to a total of €63 for 2 persons.
