Alcach — Restaurant in Alcochete

Unfortunately, our last experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing.

While we can't say that the service was bad from all the staff, some of them left us with the feeling that certain attitudes were intentional. We asked for four blankets for my two young children, my wife, and myself. We felt great reluctance from what seemed to be the manager of the establishment to provide us with the four blankets. He initially brought only two, and when I signaled that there were four of us, he took a long time to bring the rest. After some time, I called another staff member and asked for the two missing blankets. He said he would bring them, but I noticed he went to talk to the manager and did not get the blankets. I insisted and called another waiter, who brought me only one more blanket. It was a real struggle just to get these blankets. After insisting again, the manager came to us with a forced smile and handed over the last blanket, clearly annoyed.

As for the burgers we ordered, the meat was full of transparent little balls. Upon closer inspection, we realized that the meat was very fatty, as if a lot of fat had been ground and mixed with the meat. The taste wasn't bad, but the amount of fat was excessive.

Honestly, it might not have been intentional, but this time we felt that, upon hearing our Brazilian accent, some Portuguese staff started treating us in a "special" way, as if we weren't welcome. We have been to this place many times before and have always been treated with great respect. The food has always been very good, especially the croquettes, tiger shrimp, and tomahawk, among other dishes. What a superb experience. Came by expecting nothing but some sandwich and drinks. What we got was amazing burgers with great love to detail. Buns toasted and crunchy on the underside but still fluffy where need be. Homemade savoury burger sauce, enough to coat the entire patty but not so much to drip everywhere. The crunchiest bacon but still not dry and overcooked at all. Great tasting cheese and great tasting fries. An amazing choice of wine. The dessert of a lifetime - If you ever stop by do try the pistachio panna cotta!

And then there’s the service. Wine glasses never stay empty for too long and there’s always someone concerned with everything being all right with you and so you have no unfulfilled wishes at all!

A fantastic place in a fantastic village just outside the capital...a bridge apart and there's so much you can get in terms of quality of life, peaceful, burbling of opportunities, fresh full of potential. And there's this place just by the river with a magnificent esplanade that you can enjoy all year round, every day of the week. The staff are young and nice and you have a lot of outdoors heating furniture, they even give you fleece blankets for your confort.
